****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

Guys, I need your help.

When the first leak was announced saying that Android 2.2 has been official released using the update.zip file from here: http://www.nexeo.net/android/FRG01B/update.zip

Is this an official release? Because I used that update on my droid phone and I have it currently running. Do I need to upgrade to something else? Or OTA will push it nonetheless? The update file was original 45mb. The one that this thread has is 77MB. I don't get it.
you are good to go....no need to flash anything else.

Three Droids in the same house I would assume all on one contract/ac**** and only one got the update.

Hubby and I bought Droids on the same day, activated minutes apart. I got the upgrade at 11 a.m. It's almost 11 p.m. and he doesn't have his yet.

When we went to 2.1 he got his a day before I did. Just luck of the draw.

Would doing a reset allow the ota to come down to my handset? I manually updated using the file last week, file was 45.2 mb in size. Is the actual ota update bigger? No ota yet, will the phone just tell me when ready?:motdroidhoriz:

It looks like there are two update versions. The one you have has the patches to update to 2.2 like the OTA will be. The larger file (about 76 mb) is a complete install. It's like upgrading a PC from Vista to 7; an update disk makes the changes, but another way would be to but a Windows 7 installation disk and start from scratch. In the end you'd have the same thing, but some want to start with a clean slate.

still waiting.......

I haven't gotten anything yet....but I was toward the end on the 2.1 update.... :icon_ cry:

Manually Updated FroYo with Flash Beta 3 and all is well

Just wanted to say that I used the 45mb update.zip file to upgrade my Droid to 2.2 and installed Flash Beta 3 and everything has been running very well. Have been watching CNet TV on it as I find I have time at word during lunch and it works almost as well as it does on my system at home.

I'm sorry to hear that so many are having problems, but, really it's great and I find it does run faster. 40&% faster, not so sure of, but it does load web pages much faster. Wish I could move more apps to my 32gb SD care. Thought SDMove would be able to force more to it, but guess I'm just going to have to wait until the apps get updated to allow them to be moved. Course the Droid 2 is looking pretty good with 8gb of internal memory and processor speed went from 550MHz to 1GHz. That's a big improvement. Just maybe

I just skimmed through 28 pages. I have learned next to nothing, except that animated GIFs are the same thing as Flash.*

*Animated GIFs are not the same thing as Flash

I'm sorry if anyone has already posted this....
...but I did the manual update soon as it popped up (45.2 MB) one, and since then I've been having issues with the market something fierce.

there's one update thats been "installing" since 8/3/2010 (better keyboard). I went in and uninstalled it, but its sill showing in the market as "downloading..."

has anyone else been having issues with the market?

Go to Market in Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->All, and click clear cache, and clear data. Reboot the phone.

1 difference I noticed...

I'm no droid expert, but I did notice that the leak last week would not allow me to put my phone in vibrate by turning down the ringer volume via the buttons on the side. It would go from low to off skipping vibrate. I rolled back to v. 2.1 and manually did the 76.9 mb, most reason update, and the vibrate option is back. now this may just have been a fluke with my phone... did anyone else run into this?

Please help...

I am completely stock; no root for me. The other week I manually upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2. I now want to get back to 2.1 so I can get the official 2.2 OTA. I cannot find a 2.1 update.zip to downgrade back to 2.1. I'm sorry if this has already been solved, but I have looked everywhere in previous threads.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone else noticed that you cant get to silent with froyo? When I manually updated it would only let me go from ringer to vibrate. No silent. Ideas?

I saw that when I had the leaked 2.2 as well. I ended up using Beautiful Widgets to silence the phone.
