****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

What do you mean by rooted? My phones rooted folder is empty. I downloaded the manual 2.2 update have the instructions:
Download the .zip file above to a known location on your computer, and rename it 'update' (no quotes), keeping the .zip extension intact. Attach your phone to computer via USB, and access your sdcard. Place the 'update.zip' file into root of your sdcard. Remove phone from computer, and using a file manager, locate the update.zip file on your sdcard root to verify it transferred properly-the file manager should show it as a 'zipped' or compressed file. With file present, power down your phone, and boot into recovery mode. Select the update.zip file and allow the phone to apply the update. The initial boot of the new FroYo update has been reported to take a while, so be patient..FroYo won't melt! If you run into any problems, you are in luck! We have fora and threads dedicated to getting you quick help! Look for 'sticky' threads in Droid General. Enjoy your FroYo!

i dont think i have seen anyone post they have received an ota update since Thur morning, it looks to me like they stopped sending it for some reason? from what i remember from when they were sending the 2.1 ota there was alot more activiity on the forum

I dunno. I think the majority of the ppl on this forum are either rooted or installed the update manually. I think ppl like me who are 100% stock are in the minority. I really don't expect a boatload of ppl on here to report they got OTA.

And besides, they gave themselves until the 18th right?

Exactly. And there are A LOT of people for this to roll out to.

Yep. I'm tempted to DL it myself, but to me, it's not worth messing up the warranty. I'll wait.

I don't agree. I have been watching this thread, but not posting up until now, monitoring to see if the update is flowing. And I think there are a lot of folks in the same boat. I would and will post if and when I get my OTA.

My Droid is stock (by choice, I rooted my G1). I am tempted to DL manually, know how, and have studied it, but there seems to me to be a bit of confusion as to which is the final version. So I choose to keep my powder dry. Plus, now that the reports of OTA updates seem to have dried up, it makes me wonder if Moto and VZW have stopped sending OTA updates due to some glitches, and will be sending out a revised update later.

All speculation on my part, of course. Who knows what is really going on, since they choose to keep us in the dark.

Again folks they push out updates in stages.

X amount day 1 then break for 24 hours X amount on day 2 followed by a break again all the way down the line until everyone is updated. Will take a good week + to get everyone updated

You have much to learn young grass hopper haha. Rooting is extremely simple and yes...there's an app for that. Here's a link for a forum that will help you understand it if that's the route you want to go. In fact that's the only way you'll be able to boot into recovery. Add me on GTalk if you need any help bud. samzwurld@gmail.com

I find it odd that I have gotten both updates ( blocked them both) before my wife even got the 1st one.

I did a manual update with the FRG01B and it seems like my phone is slower than on 2.1. It seems to have smoothed out some, but my 3G is really slow now.

EDIT:

I did a factory reset, so we will see how this goes from here on out. If it doesn't pan out, maybe i will try installing the whole 79mb virgin patch. My phone isn't unusable, but right now, 2.1 was much better. My 3G is crawling at times, and my market and other apps that require the connection are timing out or locking up at times. This is even after doing a factory reset and starting fresh with no downloaded apps.

Ok guys/gals, I did a factory reset on my Droid, and it was still a little glitchy. I was a little sad because all my apps were gone. I was not worried about my contact info because i knew that gmail sync would bring them all back. So, after factory reset, my phone still was a little better but not alot. I gave it time and by the end of the night and a battery pull or two and full charge, she was flying! Then, i went to the market to download 1 of my apps that was deleted on factory reset. I left it on the charger and when i came back, ALL MY APPS WERE RESTORED ON THEIR OWN!!! YES.....DROID DOES----------------->dancedroid

Received the OTA update this morning when I woke up.

Purchased phone Jan 15, 2010

I'll repeat it again for those who don't know, your Droid will be a little slow after the initial update. Give it some time and you will see it will pick up speed. Factory Data Reset should not be necessary, but may help some of you who had some issues before the update. Battery pull is unnecessary, those apps will restore themselves anyway.
