****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

Got my update at 0420 this morning.I live in western NY but got the update while i was in Cincinnati so i don't believe it matters where u live.truly random by the way I love this froyo so much better.

Nothing could be finer than being in Carolina with froyo, if I had it! LOL South Carolina here and no update yet! I have a question, my friend uses easy tether, will froyo mess that up for him! Thanks for any help.

Called Verizon again, they won't commit to the 18th as the last day of the roll out. Now it's "you'll get it when we send it out." Well that nailed it down!

Clean Update

How long have you had the update? If it's still syncing then the radio is going overtime. Think of a tiny, tiny microwave in the back of the phone. If it's not syncing then it's possible the CPU is running at max speed for some unknown reason. Try turning the phone off, disconnecting the USB cable, letting it sit for a few minutes, then letting it charge fully before using it again. If you still have the same problem there might be an issue. You may need to do a factory reset, manually install the "clean" update from the circus thread, or take it to VZW and see if they're at all interested in the problem.

Just curious...is the "clean" update advantageous in some way in that it is somehow cleaner than the OTA update?

OK, I'm installing the manual update as I've gotten tired of waiting for the OTA. I probably would have gotten the OTA in 10 minutes...

I've waited because I haven't seen the rationalization for this being as safe - or as clean - as an OTA update.

My phone is taking it's time rebooting. If anyone can tell me precisely why this would be a good decision, I would be grateful. :)

Tethering apps will work with FroYo unless you uninstall them first. Then you'll have to reinstall them to get them to work. Funny how that happens, no? :)

By the way, random means random. That means random. Random, in case you are unaware, means without rhyme, reason, order, favorite locale, or penalties for bad haircuts. Yes, I'm talking to you. That 'do? Totally not you. But Verizon doesn't care, and your Droid doesn't care.

Speaking about not caring, your Droid doesn't care if you have a bad haircut, but it does care about what OS it's running. You don't want your favorite gadget to feel left out, do you? To feel like you don't love it anymore?

If you don't want your Droid to feel this way, try the patented FurBearingMammal Manual Install (tm), as endorsed by <insert Mod's name here>. Simply follow the underlined link road above and when you're done, enjoy the FroYo goodness!

Limited time offer, expires at midnight or when the last OTA is installed, whichever comes last.

(No endorsements have been supplied or are should be implied by any of the preceding statement. Everything in this post is false. This is a lie. Fnord.)

It replaces the installed OS instead of patching and hacking it into shape. This is analagous to upgrading a computer (which this is, only it makes phone calls). Upgrading versus a clean install.

The clean install means there's less chance of an error or garbled bit of code remaining behind leading to instability or lag.

It's rebuilding half the systems in the phone. Even at 600MHz, that takes some time.

We are at Roche Harbor Marina in San Juan Islands/Washington State and a Guy just got the update. I ran the upgrade for him and it went smoothly. He could careless!!!! Where's mine?

Chris

I looked around for this, but figured I would ask. Does the update wait till the phone is idle to do the download so it doesn't bog down the phone when you might need it?

No, I was outside walking from one place to another, reading email when I got my alert.

is that with the NEW build? the same one as the new OTA?

Well, There is no proof that the first OTA is different from the second OTA. i personally doubt there ever was. If you're that concerned then download the link from us and just follow the directions there.
