Wake4life, go to your Astro file after you download your update file and "edit" it to read. "update.zip" . If it doesn't say/read update.zip. , it will not take. Then select move, then up and a question " do you want to overwrite? " yes. Then the line at the bottom moving accross& then an image of an arrow curving out of a box. I did the x-on hold the x, volume up click the camera button for 10 hours. Tired, hope it helps

Just wanna double check everything on here is the way it should be.

Firmware Version - 2.1-update1
Baseband Version - C_01.3E.03P
Build Number - voles-userdebug 2.1-update1 ESE53 25914 test-keys

@rustyb - I have done that quite a few times. I've done it with Astro and I've also done it by just mounting my phone via USB.

LMAO. My replacement refurb Droid that came yesterday just got the 2.2 update and got it via wifi. It isn't even activated yet. My original Droid that I got back in December still nothing.

Just a follow-up. My original Droid just received the update a few minutes ago. And this one was via wifi as well as it isn't on an active line either. So that is two Droids within 12 hours. Located in Delaware.

hey guys..i tried the manual update a few days ago was having loads of troubles. then someone in this forum kindly posted this website and it went smooth..almost too easy......the trick i was missing is that when i did the dl with astro the update .zip doesnt go directly to the sd card...you have to copy and paste it there...this explains it:

Somewhere between honolulu and washington dc I got 2.2........installed it while waiting for my plane to rhode island........long reboot, be patient......long sync so seems laggy, be patient.......like lightning after sync.......by the way love these forums, first post

Got it this AM. After a reboot and letting the phone sync up everything, it zips! Noticed the new car dock is nice. The audio sounds much better to me for music playback. the camera open 10 x's faster, plus I like the onscreen options with it. I have to reinstall Swype yet....

I just got my OTA update notice, clicked "Install" and the "!" in a triangle screen appeared - and that was it. Clicked power button - and I am still on 2.1. No more "System Update" prompts. . . what did I do wrong and what do I do?

Try going to your about phone and see if you can't have it check for updates. Let me know if that works for you.

My update came down this morning too. Tapped "install now", it went to update, gave me an error (something about file not found), & made me reboot.... dunno....

Better performance, more features, more compatible with new(er) apps.....

JIT is enabled (better performance)

Bluetooth voice dialing, Flash available, Chrome to phone available, new Voice Seach available, etc.. (more features)

New developments will be towards 2.2 for now (compatibility with newer apps).
