I did the manual install and it bricked my phone....even brought it to VZW and they couldn't fix it...
Fortunately, they recognize a lot of people have reported this problem and they're sending me a new phone....

That bites, but at least they're giving you a replacement. Some phones just can't handle the new kernel speeds or something.

Did they let you keep the original phone, though? If so, I know someone who wants a Droid-shaped paperweight...

I finally got the update today I noticed to opposite, LauncherPro is much smoother than before. Perhaps it depends on what other applications you have running.

are you using basic LauncherPro or LauncherPro plus? I installed the basic version a few weeks ago and I've been wanting to upgrade to the paid version (mostly just to support the amazing developer), but I saw a lot of people wrote in market comments that they had LPpro issues on their droids when they got the froyo update, but I didn't see any complaints about the basic version and 2.2. I haven't gotten froyo yet so I've been curious about what will happen to my LauncherPro when I do get it... I don't ever want to go back to not having it.

I am using LauncherPro Plus, but it is the same build as LauncherPro, the only difference is that you use a key to unlock the plus functionality. Perhaps a reboot or a re-install of launcher pro would help. Some people have reported that Beautiful Widgets is slowing down LP however I do not have that problem. I am using LP, Beautiful Widgets, Pure Calendar widget, and Folder Organizer, that's all for widgets.

OK regulator.the "stuck" part(vage)is renaming the file. Do you DEL<X what's already there and put "update" that didn't work. Copy & paste? Thanks for the help.Can anyone who did it phone only post the steps please? I think today a lot of people will look...:icon_cool:

Never received the OTA...

...so I decided to manually install 2.2

...best decision I've ever made. Its the same thing everyone else has. And its super easy, so its no way you can really mess up. Took like 5 minutes for the whole process.

...I did everything straight from my phone. Never even needed a computer. Highly recommended

Regulator, are you using another computer? 5 words before NOTHING ELSE you say " rename. It already says update. PHONE ONLY UPDATES

it works! I just "checked for updates" on my phone and it is giving me FROYO as I type this. Kickass.

That is cool.. I dont think many people know they can do this.

No you can't unless you have the update ready to down load. I live near Sacramento CA. and we won't get the update to the end of the month and maybe early next month. This is from my Verizon store. He also said it needs 80% of your battery left and can take 30 minutes to a couple of hours? I wonder does anyone at the Verizon store really know what going on?

The good news is they have 6x of the extended D2 batteries with new back plate.

No, they don't. 80% is recommended but the official VZW instructions say 60%. As low as 20% with it plugged into the wall charger, but I wouldn't dare.

It doesn't take anywhere NEAR 30 minutes, let alone an hour or more!

It's being pushed out, but a manual update has a lower chance of messing your phone up, and has the added advantage of being faster.

It's being pushed out, but a manual update has a lower chance of messing your phone up, and has the added advantage of being faster.

Wait, faster as in it installs faster or faster as in it runs faster once it's installed?

I have the paid Launcher Pro and it seems to be working just fine. It was laggy at first when I initially installed Froyo but it has been working a lot smoother now. And I love the new update widget for messages! I can scroll through my messages on my home screen in a really fancy way haha. I hope this helps. Pro Plus is really nice and I use it at my main home launcher

that's awesome thanks for the info! I'll most likely just go ahead and update now then. Coincidentally, the reason I installed LauncherPro in the first place is because I have been dying for more than three homescreens and didn't feel like waiting for froyo anymore. I assumed I would go back to the stock home launcher when I got froyo, but that's definitely not going to happen haha I still can't believe I went so long without LP. & my iPhone-owning bf has a major case of Droid envy now -- definitely don't mind that :]

yeh I didn't think they were that different; but like I said, I just saw a bunch of people posting angry comments about how the new LauncherPro Plus doesn't work with froyo at all and that they were switching back to basic LauncherPro. It sounded kind of odd (and dramatic as always), but my droid is still on 2.1 so I really have no personal experience with it, that's why I wanted to hear some feedback. I guess it varies from person to person. thanks for the reply!!
