****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

im new here but im hoping this is where it belongs. about 45 min ago i got a message about the update and i installed it, and my phone has been really unresponsive and not really working since. I cant make calls, my texts wont load and just force close, i have a live wallpaper and usually it lags right before im going to get a message, and it looks like its gunna do it but nothing. my phone randomly shuts off as well. help?

That's a borked install. You'll want to do a manual install of the update file from the circus thread to correct the issue. Need a link and instructions?

a few quick questions (btw, I am running totally stock droid 2.1):

1) I know froyo does not play well with task killers. I have ATK installed now, with the settings very lenient, I have most apps/processes on my ignore list. I assumed I would just uninstall it when I got froyo, but now I have seen a few recent posts that task killers installed with it even updating. So am I best to uninstall it now?

2) I know it is recommended to let the phone 'bake' after the update to do it's thing and settle in. I am assuming the best thing is just to leave it plugged into the charger, but still on. Is this correct? Or should I power it off after the update? Common sense tells me it wouldn't make sense to turn it off, but I really don't know and I want to make sure I optimize the whole update process to get the best result out of it.

I downloaded a file to manually install it, but have yet to pull the plug so to speak. I need my phone for Saturday, so I am waiting to manually install it until Saturday night just in case I mess something up. Basically, I may get the OTA (if it comes before Saturday) or I may manually install it... I'm not sure if the answers to my questions vary depending on the method. I'm guessing it doesn't matter if it's OTA or manual, but I like to be thorough :]

Uninstall the task killer and leave it uninstalled, you didn't really need it under 2.1 either. :) You'll want to leave the phone turned on, and you can use it, just keep in mind it might be somewhat unresponsive for a while as it downloads and syncs and cleans up and various other things.

Just remember, your phone has gone through a traumatic experience and will need some TLC, kind words, and gentle caresses for a while before it'll turn back into the demon you once knew, only with even better tricks. ;)

ummm like ten minutes after i posted this it started to work fine.

Be patient. It sometimes takes a bit for it to load up.

I found a couple things that I noticed right when I got the OTA.

My phone got real slow (downloading the update)

Install went fast, and on the reboot I thought it was stuck on the droid eye.....was 5 minutes or longer.......WAIT IT OUT.

Once it was booted my phone radio looked turned off and my phone was super laggy and took about 5-10 of syncing before it settled down.

After it looked like syncing and all that was finally done.....i rebooted.

Since then my phone rocks, fast, fast and fast.

Just FYI's from my OTA experience on a Stock Droid.

Yep, that's totally normal. And we have been telling everybody to be patient when it first comes back up, it's a bit slow (see poster above).

That'd be just under the 1-hour mark everyone's been saying. I'm glad I didn't throw you into a panic before your phone settled down. :D

Still waiting here too. Someone said that its being done in order of serial numbers. Any confirmation of this being true? Because if it is, then I would think some of us who have had the phone for a long time, close to a year or more for some, that these phones would have been updated by now. Its annoying because my buddy picked up his droid a week and a half ago and was updated on the 16th....annoying.

I got mine in earlier December of 2009.

Really enjoying the 2.2 update. I read the new features list and it mentions remote lock and wipe. Does anyone know how to do that?

That's BS. You'll get it when you get it or you give it to yourself.

Ok, I've got a newbie question...I did the manual update last night, so will I still get the OTA update? And if I do, what should I do?

Ah, looking to screw up your phone already, I see. In the interests of keeping your phone intact, I'm not going to tell you how but I will tell you that if you contact Verizon and report the phone stolen they can do it for you.

If I'm totally off-base here, someone please correct me, but I've seen two or three people panicking after wiping their phones accidentally and having to flash 2.0.1 SBF files and reupdating, costing them all their data in the process. Hence my caution.

I didn't get my OTA update so I decided to manually do it last night.Doesn't run any different than when I had B.B. running on it. I should have just left it rooted.
looks like i'll be starting starting all over again.

Why would Verizon try to update you to the software you're already running? If you get an update notice it's the rumored second-wave 2.2 update that supposedly is going out soon -- as soon as the first update wave is done. You'll want to install it.
