****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

I didn't get my OTA update so I decided to manually do it last night.Doesn't run any different than when I had B.B. running on it. I should have just left it rooted.
looks like i'll be starting starting all over again.
Stock is stock, always will be. A custom ROM is almost always better for someone who has one on than stock will ever be.

I'm hoping this has been answered somewhere if not....I hope someone has an answer. I have Moto Droid. I received 2.2 through the phone this morning. I cannot receive or send text. It won't even open the app. I have two apps for this. One is the one issued with the phone and one is Handcent. Up until recently I haven't been receiving phone calls. The phone has locked up, frozen, delayed reaction and powered down so many times I hesitate to touch it. The battery drains almost immediately and there are no apps running. Hopefully someone has a solution. Thanks.

Ok, I've got a newbie question...I did the manual update last night, so will I still get the OTA update? And if I do, what should I do?
Why would Verizon try to update you to the software you're already running? If you get an update notice it's the rumored second-wave 2.2 update that supposedly is going out soon -- as soon as the first update wave is done. You'll want to install it.

That's why I was asking. I didn't know that Verizon knew that I had done the update manually.

@furbearingmammal - I know, I was running BB but decided to go back to see what verizons official pushed version was like before just doing it manually. Guess my waiting patiently has done nothing because I'm the only droid user left on my cars forum, we have a 2.2 OTA thread there, that hasn't been updated yet out of around 100+ users. Just annoying is all, that and I wish verizon had a different way of sending out updates instead of this wait and see method.

Short answer, yes there's a fix. We'll help you with it if you want to try it.

Long answer: If I were you I'd either decide how attached I was to my phone's data. If you wanted to keep it I'd manually install the larger update file from the circus thread. If I were okay losing it I'd do a factory reset and kiss said data goodbye. A factory reset might fix it. If not, and you're not comfortable doing a manual update, get ahold of Verizon and get a replacement phone and hope the update doesn't bork that one too.

Looking at the coding from the rom I used to flash back to stock, from the thread here, it says OTA update is disabled...and now it won't let me change it for some reason. Any ideas on what could have done this? My phones never given me problems when using different roms so this is weird.

Verizon pings your phone, the phone responds with a build number, and if the build number matches what it's looking for the system moves on. That's why people running custom ROMs like Bugless Beast and Ultimate Droid, which are running on old code and the dev oopsed and didn't block the OTA updates in the original release, are getting update notices.

They do. You get the file from the Google server and install the update manually. Of course, that takes more initiative than the average American has nowadays (not saying you personally, I mean taken as a whole). I'm surprised so many people want to try the stock out. It's stock. It's the same thing, only slightly different, faster, and with different options and a slight change in the app lineup. For the average user, it's a tremendous upgrade, but for ROM users... If you took the initiative and rooted, how is anything Motorola going to put out with Verizon's approval going to measure up? :)

On the other hand, this gives you the opportunity to try a different ROM until the BB 5 comes out, so you can experiment and all that. So, really, it's a major pain, but it doesn't have to be all bad.

Define data....anything I need can be updated from my back up or on my comp. I don't have any original non-backedup data that I know of. And yes please help I am going insane.

I'm not a coder, so I can't really say for sure what's going on. I can say that you might be forced to SBF back to 2.0.1 and work your way back up via SPRecovery -- or you could get Easy Root, push Busybox onto the phone after you root with it, and use ROM Manager to get your stuff back/access to new stuff.

ok. This will probably get me booted. But can you simplify. non sys geek speak please. I can follow directions and steps. But the rest is beyond.

@furbearingmammal - no I completely understand. I actually like trying all the different roms but have enjoyed BB the most so far. Its just worked best on my phone. Funny thing is I just got an email from verizon saying that there system shows I should have been updated but I wasn't and that my phone should be updated shortly.
Possibly all the failed attempts to get the thing to see it should be updated payed off. Going through the update process now. Its weird but now I can't complain can I? I'll still grab BB v.05 when it hits though.

I finally got 2.2 OTA this morning. I'm in Scottsdale, AZ and have had my Moto Droid since December 7. I got FRG01B and Kernel Ver. 2.6.32.9-g103d848, for whatever that's worth.

Everything (text via Handcent, Gmail, browsers, all apps I've tried) seem to work normally. All pics, music and ringtones seem to be where I left them. Oh, and the phone function works too :). I did NOT clear my home screens or anything like that to prep for the update, I just pushed update now as soon as I FINALLY got it. It took a while to install after the auto reboot, but not bad; maybe 3 minutes.

New interface is good. Got the 5 home pages. New alarm default in dock and new car dock default too. I can't see a difference in web browsing speed yet. Still seems pretty slow via 3G and wi-fi. Too soon to tell about battery life.

I went and manually downloaded Flash 10.1 via PC, but it doesn't seem to have installed correctly (Flash Showcase won't load) so I'm going to have to play with that some more. I don't want to wait forever like I did for Froyo. I'll be heading over to those forums.

This is my first post, but I've been lurking for a long time. Thanks for all the hints, rumors and updates everybody.

Just a glimmer of hope for those still waiting...I got my update 10 mins ago @ 2:40pm MST so afternoon updates are possible. I also only had 50% battery and install took about 2 minutes.

Ok....Can you make this easy for me to do. I have all of my data that is important backed up. I can follow steps and procedures. Do I need to erase my SD card as well?
