****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

Define data....anything I need can be updated from my back up or on my comp. I don't have any original non-backedup data that I know of. And yes please help I am going insane.
Data -- old text messages, installed apps, settings, wallpapers... If you have sync turned on your contacts and apps (mostly) will come back (be downloaded again from the Market) after you do a factory reset. If you have backups, even better.

If you're comfortable doing a manual install, simply download this and do so. http://androidoverdrive.com/pete/OEM/9046f5a3ec09.signed-voles-ota-45394.zip
In case you need them, the instructions (a full-on guide will be going on tonight at some point if the Mods grant approval) in their simplest form are here.

Manual Android 2.2 Update for Motorola DROID | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

myself and my co-worker got the update yesterday evening. i live in Eastern CT. he lives in Rhode Island. i've had my Droid since Christmas Eve last year.
Flash on Android... the Android was perfect before. but it's even better now. is that even possible to be better than perfect though?

HELP PLEASE! just got the OTA Update. I hit install now. Phone rebooted and started to update, went about 1/4th of the way and then shut off and rebooted. Did that 3 more times with me doing nothing. Then it finally went the whole way ont he progress bar. Then the ! with the triangle and phone showed up. I read earlier to hold volume up and camera button. I did that, and selected "apply sdcard:update.zip" then it says:

Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or dicrectory)
E:signature verification failed.
Installation aborted.

What do i do??!?!?!?

I finally got 2.2 OTA this morning. I'm in Scottsdale, AZ and have had my Moto Droid since December 7. I got FRG01B and Kernel Ver. 2.6.32.9-g103d848, for whatever that's worth.

Everything (text via Handcent, Gmail, browsers, all apps I've tried) seem to work normally. All pics, music and ringtones seem to be where I left them. Oh, and the phone function works too :). I did NOT clear my home screens or anything like that to prep for the update, I just pushed update now as soon as I FINALLY got it. It took a while to install after the auto reboot, but not bad; maybe 3 minutes.

New interface is good. Got the 5 home pages. New alarm default in dock and new car dock default too. I can't see a difference in web browsing speed yet. Still seems pretty slow via 3G and wi-fi. Too soon to tell about battery life.

I went and manually downloaded Flash 10.1 via PC, but it doesn't seem to have installed correctly (Flash Showcase won't load) so I'm going to have to play with that some more. I don't want to wait forever like I did for Froyo. I'll be heading over to those forums.

This is my first post, but I've been lurking for a long time. Thanks for all the hints, rumors and updates everybody.
Did you install the Flash .apk from within a file manager like Astro or just put the .apk on your SD card?

It sounds like you got a bad download. Delete the update.zip on your SD card and then see if you can call another update by going to the settings/about phone/check for updates or whatever it is there.

That's the same error I've been getting every single time I try to do a manual update. I've checked and double checked to make sure I've renamed the file properly too.

Hmm. I rebooted after you said this, and it's a little laggy but it seems that the update installed??? I don't understand this.

Edited: shows: Android Version 2.2
Baseband version: C_01.3E.03P
Kernal version: 2.6.32.9-g103d848 android-build@apa26 #1
Build number: FRG01B

I think this is okay now, right?

Huzaah!! Frozen goodness for everyone.... well for me at least. Did not know they were pushing the updates during the day. Just got the OTA at 4:00 pm near the Twin Cities.

1:50 PM Seattle time, 8-19-2010, I rec'd the OTA. Took around 7 minutes start to finish. About phone says android 2.2. Initial speed is improved. All my stuff appears to be OK. First impression indicates a good install.

The 2.2 Update just killed my phone. I elected to take the update this morning and when I did the phone never rebooted. It would hang on the Motorola Logo screen. I called Verizon and they told me I had to take it to a Corporate Verizon Store. Just got back from an 80 mile round trip drive. The verizon store in Houghton MI could not flash the memory and therefore ordered me a new (referbished) phone as a replacement. Not sure what happened. Never unpluged while flashing... Just never came back and I was looking forward to the 2.2 update.... Beware... Anyone else have this problem. Apparently Verizon stores received an update last night about this problem... Be warned that your phone may go to update heaven... Now I wonder If I will get all my apps back on the new phone... Already backed up my SD card...

Let me know if you are in the same boat for your Droid update 2.2

Thanks.
I downloaded onto PC, transfered via usb to Droid's SD card and then used ASTRO to install it. Astro said it was a successful install and I see Flash 10.1 in my apps list in settings, so maybe the problem is with Showcase. I don't have a widget or icon for Flash though. I'll find some other way to test Flash. Suggestions?
