OTA rolling out!

If I updated to the leaked 5.5.893 will I continue to receive any future OTA updates? I've seen a few threads that say one and others that say the other. Thanks for the clarification!

Just got it. Hope I don't loose all my text history.

EDIT: just rebooted and everything is there and EXACTLY the way it was before.. .... so far YAY !

I just got the update. I was rooted and installed it. It completed successfully. Tried titanium BU and a " you do not have rooted priviladge " popped up..... or something close...

Anyway the update completed.

I downloaded the leaked .893 before going back to .886 then tried to download this official OTA today when it notified me I could and I couldn't. I get an error message saying that the install failed. I'm trying to find a link to the leaked OTA so I can get it back on my phone.

I'm gonna be honest, the update didn't do jack. Still drops data, camera still sucks. The only difference i see is the version number.

Correct, headphone whine was very prevalent before, and upon installation of update, is now gone.

Definitely NOT a soaker. I checked periodically throughout the day, and when I checked around 4:30pm, going into settings > about phone > system updates, I got the message that an update was available for download.

Hi new guy here. I got the update at 10 am today via notification asking if i want to download. Stock bionic and not a soak tester. My wife also got the notification but she declined because she did not know what it was. I will have to see if i can update when she gets home

Stock user here. Had a message on my phone that the OTA was ready to install. Installed and camera does focus faster for me.

I installed the 893 OTA and lost root, tried to regain root using this tool but it failed. Has anyone regained root after upgrading? I'm thinking of restoring my last nandroid, forever rooting, then re-upgrading. Will this work?

you cant do a nandroid restore if you lost root, you need root for that. fairly sure the update patched the root exploit so there's not much you can do until devs come up with a new way

the update definitely takes away your root and patches the exploit.

If that is correct, then it is not the same update that was leaked. The leak did not patch the exploit, it took it away but the exploit was still there.

Thats what I thought.

If I unrooted prior to install of update would root work? My geuss Probably not.

i haven't done a full diff, but i compared the filesizes of this (the official OTA) to the leaked 5.5.893 update from the web and they are identical in filesize in bytes. to be identical down to the byte is pretty impossible unless they are identical. unless the lnk provided above was the leak too, and not official ota
