I know everyone is busy working on stuff but I really need to know if we can just rename this .893 update to "update.zip" and "install update.zip from SD card" using clockwork mod? thanks. Or do we have to go into the fastboot loader?

I did it as is in Fastboot in Recovery and Update from Zip.

No... There are TON of instructions for performing the OTA upgrade.

You need to fastboot or FXR back to the stock 886, root it, perform the Forever Root procedure, then install Cheesecake, flash the OTA of 893. Then you can leave it of flash the ROM.

NONE of which is necessary if you don't want the new kernel and Radio.

So we HAVE to use Cheesecake? We can't just get the 893 and flash it? thanks for your help. I just don't trust cheesecake. Concerned about corrupted downloads on a wireless connection.

Just minimizing issues. yes, if you have the ota you can put it on the root of your SD card rename it update.zip and flash in STOCK recovery... NOT Clockwork.

Thanks. Then if I want the kerenel & radio I get 893 on the root of my SD card and flash in recovery (rename)

Got it. I tried putting the inverted keyboard on 2.0 which didn't work even after reboots, replaced the latinIME.apk from 2.0 and now the search works. Don't know why it didn't work with swype, but works now

just did the whole revert to stock do the forever root thing then reroot and installed cheesecake then downloaded .893 and installed that now im running v2.0 and cant wait for V2.1 or whatever comes...

must say thanks to everyone from this thread who helped me out by reading these posts...so awesome to see we have a place to go for support...
