[ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

I was running Apex 1.0 and flashed back to SBF 2.3.15. My problem is that I cannot wipe data and cache because I cannot reboot into recovery. When I open Koush bootstrap and "Reboot Recovery" nothing happens. When I select "Bootstrap Recovery" i get an error:
Error running exec().

How can I finish wiping my phone?

Well you have to be rooted to use the Bootstrapper. So install z4Root, root, and then wipe data and such, and then unroot. And you're good!

That was indeed the problem :)

Question about this Apex version. I want to switch my text messaging back to how it used to be with no conversation bubbles. I do messaging -aosp and it changes. but when I launch Messaging it says that apk isn't installed. Where do I get the AOSP messaging apk?

Well it should be in the "Apex" folder on your SD card. Flashing the ROM puts it on there. So hopefully you didn't delete it.

Anyone having reboots constantly? I get reboots and then the screen goes to black when it boots up and says process system not responding, force close or wait. I then have to reboot the phone again to make it work. Anyone seeing anything like this?

The only apk I see in there is Microbes.apk. Can I get it somewhere else or can someone upload it?

New to Droidx Romming

I have put a new Rom on my droid x but it seems that the apps are not automatically restored by market. Is this correct or did I do something wrong? I am used to the original droid where you can wipe flash a ROM and the market restores the apps. I've tried twice and waited, but the apps never restore,, the market shows now downloads. Any help would be appreciated. I know I can use Titanium Backup but that is pretty tedious without the pro version.

I can try to put it up later. Actually, go into the file that you flashed, the .zip and inside of of that there is a file called SDcard. Copy that file and replace the current one that's on your SD card.

It's something wrong with the market. A lot of people with different ROMS are having problems. not much you can do but get titanium backup.

I'm looking there, it's exactly the same as what's on my phone. The only apk in there is Microbes.apk.

However I do see Messaging.apk in system\app. Which version is that? aosp or blur? If it is aosp, do I first need to uninstall the blur messaging before installing aosp?

I have rooted my Dx! Ha, i am now wondering which would be the best rom to get, any ideas?

Also, tried Liberty today. Lots of bells and whistles but it isn't there yet. Nandroided back to Apex after playing with Liberty for awhile. Just so much more polished, everything works 100% and I can do anything with Apex that I could do with the Liberty toolbox...

No. Fab has set everything up in the ROM. All you need to do is run scripts. There is a tutorial in the first post. Remember to ask for 'su' permission and that everything is case sensitive.

For instance:

su
messaging -aosp

I believe for all the scripts (messaging/email/etc...) there is a .apk file and a .bak file. And it just changes between the two when you run scripts.

This is slightly off topic, but if you nandroid and then wipe data and cache, but later flash that nandroid does it restore apps and data automatically? Like is it going to out you back exactly where you were?

That is correct

Yeah I always wipe data/cache/dalvik when I restore. The nandroid is literally a picture of your phone at the time it was made so a restore brings it back to EXACTLY how it was.
