[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

Well Fab all I could say is if you can get the facebook to sync the pictures with the contacts it would be the best. I noticed though there are two contacts screens, the blur contacts and the aosp contacts. If you hit dialer you have the contacts that have the phone next to it for calling, but if you go to contacts the same menu is different with no phone for calling.

my facebook would not sync either. I had to end up doing a factory reset and then everything worked great after that.

Revert back to original ROM theme?

I've installed NexTheme, which is cool, but I'd like to revert back to the original theme that RC2 comes loaded with. Is there a way to do this without re-installing the whole ROM from scratch?

Yes. If you made a backup before you put on the NexTheme then just restore it, if you didn't then search up NexTheme on this website and the topic telling you how to install it should include instructions on how to remove it.

I don't remember doing a factory reset but I got Facebook to sync with my contacts and pictures load in the contacts app but not the messaging app. Pictures sync'd with the original messaging app. I really like this messaging app but I really prefer having pictures so I wonder if there is any way to restore the original.

Also I noticed that when I sync Facebook with my contacts, it does sync the pictures but it doesn't seem to "save" them or do whatever it use to do on stock. Whenever I scroll down to a contact it takes about 2-3 seconds for their picture to come up, before it would be already on there and come up instantly.

a lot of times if you just install the rom with out wiping anything it just removes current theme you are on.

Does anyone have the APKs for the Motoblur wifi toggle, GPS toggle, and the stock alarm clock that the phone comes with?

Release 1.0 is available in the 1st post now. The install instructions HAVE CHANGED.

No longer need to mount /system. Please read instructions carefully. Installing from ROM manager is now possible ;)

Also, read the 2nd post on how to use the overclock script.

Thanks, enjoy!

I installed via Rom Manager and so far so good! Gonna read the 2nd post now. ;) Thanks, Fab!

@Fab
Thanks for including over clock in v1.0 that's awesome.

Feature request - include more "change" scripts.
most people seem to want to get rid of some parts of blur
but most seem to like different parts
It would be cool if we could just run
"bluremail" and it would switch to the blur client
or "aospemail" and it wold go to the aosp client
same thing for like
home & car docks.
alarm clocks, contacts.. etc

Hey, Fab, if you could add these build.prop edits into ROM Manager as an Addon for your ROM I would be so happy! I've already applied the new build.prop on my friends Droid X (I don't have a Droid X... Yet) with this ROM on it and it was EXTREMELY fast.

Also, if you do add this in to ROM Manager, don't forget to also put in a stock build.prop.

Very nice indeed. Install went good. Did not format data.

First thing I did was run Quadrant. I went from a 1402 with RC2 to a 1439 here. Not much, but I'll take it.

I was extremely pleased with RC2, so I think v.1 is going to be just as good.

Here's the blur alarm clock. I missed the gentle volume increase on it...

You'll have to remove the .zip extension, it's not really zipped. Also, after installing you may have to clear the "default" setting on clock. This app shows up as Alarm & Timer.

Enjoy!

I've been using RC1 since it first debuted here, but I had huge problems with V1. First, I installed without wiping anything, and it seemed to be doing fine... until I tried listening to Music Mod in the car dock. It was freezing up for 30+ seconds, then restarting. I couldn't even get through one song. So, I restored to my 2.2 OTA, just-rooted nand backup. Then, wiped everything except SD card and installed again. After that, it was doing the freeze/restart thing all over the place. I just restored back to RC1. I really hope V2 doesn't cause these issues for me, because I absolutely love the Apex, and I'd love to be able to run the latest version. :(

When I attempt to install this, I receive the message "Application not installed". This has happened to me when trying to install other Blur .APKs in Apex. Any tips on how to get around this?

EDIT: nevermind. droidforums.net user "sephtin" had already answered my question. below is the solution, in case anyone else was wondering.

The message saying it "can't be installed".. how did you try to install?

To Reinstall blur stuff back to a blurless rom, use Root Explorer, or ADP to do the following:
--Remount /system to ReadWrite (in Root Explorer, that's done by navigating to the /system directory, and tapping the "Mount RW" button at the top).
--Copy the files to /system/app
--Change the permissions of the files to match the other files in /system/app (In Root explorer, long press on the file, select permissions, and make it user: Read and Write, Group: Read, and Other: Read.
--mount Read Only again (button at top of Root Explorer "mount RO"
--reboot.

Fab the facebook sync with contacts that you mention is not the one I'm looking for. I'm looking for the option to sync with only the contacts I have, I don't want it to sync all my contacts from facebook. I was able to do this in the Droid 1 so I know this option should be in the AOSP of android.
