[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

Installed last night, and I have to say, WOW!!! Very nice ROM. Great work, and as of today, no problems. I have using other ROM's, Rubix 0.5
zapX and FlyX and this Rom has intregrated into my phone and is both fast and smooth. I will be following your work in the furture. GREAT JOB!!!!

Thanks

Bluetooth seems to be working great. Battery life has improved, I assume battery life wasn't great at first due to it being a new install or something of the sort.

I get the occasional force close from some random apps, but that could be just about anything that causes that.

I do with that the ROM wasn't overclocked by default. I don't really like overclocking and trusting your scripts is scary :)

For anyone trying to get back their Backupassistant. You need to make sure that these apk's are in the root of your sd card. android-syncservice-app.apk , BackupAssistanceClient.apk , BuaContactAdapter.apk.

Once those are in the root of the SD, go into terminal emulator and type

su
install android-syncservice-app.apk

install BackupAssistanceClient.apk

install BuaContactAdapter.apk

not sure if the last one is necessary but it didnt work until I installed the android-syncservice-app.apk.
Thanks for this! This ROM is soooo SICK!

Only problem is that I do freeze randomly. I'm guessing my hardware doesn't like the overclock. But it's just so snappy with it! Will this get any better over time?

reboot issue

Issue. Random reboot.
But I have a fact.
Been running apex v1 from its posted date.
I had the phone clean and free from apps.
I posted the phone runs fast and sweet without any issue.
Last night at work I had free time with machine running,so I redownloaded angry birds.
Ok when I play games or put the phone into stress it random reboot.
As in the screen locks up. No buttons do anything.
next screen turns black and I see the reboot animation.
No games no reboot. Play games reboot.
4 reboots in 3 hours of angry birds.
Once while playing, My wife calls.
I could not hear her. Then the phone rebooted.
This was while playing as well.
So I put the cpu back from 1.2 to 1.1 I use dx/d2.
not sure now about the overclocking guys.
Its all good unil you play games.
That means the cpu maybe getting over worked.
Maybe heat.
Anyway I wanted to share because I have been one bragging on the rom.

Sorry about the way that post came out.
I don't mean to say its the rom.
I am thinking its the overclocking.
1.2 maybe to much for the moto droidx.
I have it back at 1.1 has not rebooted as of yet.
15 hour or so up time.
Note no game playing.

Love this ROM, came from Rubix and I like this one better so far. I've only had two minor problems:

- Timestamps on Gallery appear to be off, any pictures I take always show a +7 hour difference from the actual time I took it. Basically, it's showing GMT time instead of my own time (-7 from GMT here in California).
- Even if I disable auto-rotation, the Tranquility Launcher will rotate. Apps won't, so they're fine, but whenever I'm on any of my homescreens they'll rotate even if I have it disabled.

Other than that it's been perfect! :)

It's relative to voltage and your particular processor. Some phones can do 1.2 @ stock voltage, some can't. It really isn't realistic from a battery life perspective to use the higher voltage settings...maybe if you're using the advanced OC section in Jrummy's app you can fine tune the voltage to get stable at 1.2 without an appreciable drop in battery life. You should be STRESS TESTING your OC with an app like quadrant before telling your phone to boot at those OC settings. I do a minimum of 4 quadrant runs before applying an OC at boot. 1.2 is not too much, generally speaking...my phone will easily do 1.4 @ higher voltage settings, but its a "suicide run" sort of thing, IE not realistic or at all useful for day to day use. I'm currently running 1.1ghz @ ULV and quite happy with the battery life. The phone is fast enough that i don't feel the need to bump processor speed anymore...even if the CPU/GPU overclocker in me is dying to get out :D

What vesel are you running at 1.2? I run 1.2 no problem on ApeX but with the vesel set any lower than 70 it will crash the way u say... at 70 i can run it hard all day with no freezes or call issues... (ive had all the issues you described trying lower vesel) Maybe some cpu's can handle these lower voltages but even the stock 1.1 at 64 vesel was freezing me from time to time... I think my cpu might just like to run hot

Just installed Apex today. I too am having the same issue, but am not playing any games. I have not over-clocked beyond what is part of the ROM. Yet every 5-15 minutes, the phone freezes for 10-15 seconds, and reboots.

I hope this can get resolved. Love this ROM a LOT, but had to flash back to stock so I could use my phone... Hope a fix is found soon, let me know if I can provide more info... I'll be happy to flash back to try again. :)

I think fab needs to remove the stock OC settings from the rom, and just leave it as an option. Statistically, the more people he gets on this rom the more phones we'll find that can't do 1.1@ stock volts. Mike, if you like the rom, just disable OC at boot and reboot... i think that will remove the OC.

in the console
su
overclock -off

Have you tried just disabling overclocking?
