[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

I think those terminal edits are if you want to remove / restore certain apps, like Blur stuff. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm new at this.) I can tell you that I loaded it up last night and it's been working just fine. I've only run into two small things:

1. I couldn't get Corp Sync to work. Kept telling me that I could not communicate with the server. However, TouchDown worked just fine...and honestly, I think I'm liking it much better anyways.

2. The only app I've run into causing me an issue has been the Ruger SR9 pistol app. For some reason, it will NOT install. It keeps telling me it is unsuccessful for some reason.

GMail, Contacts, all that stuff is working just fine. I'm also using the Facebook / Twitter apps without any issues either. The ROM is quick and I like that a lot.

I am having big issues trying to load this ROM. I downloaded it from Rom manager and after it was finished I chose "Wipe Data and Cache" and my phone rebooted into recovery. Everything went well and the phone did its thing and loaded the Rom. Everything looked as if it was working. As soon as the Android setup screen came up i tried setting up everything like normal..And then the phone crashes. It comes back on and shortly after it crashes again. This issues repeats it self and never stopped. I had to .sbf back to 2.2 because i couldnt access my back ups. After flashing back i decided to try it again after rooting the phone and the issue happened all over again.

Im not sure if I am the only one that is having this issue because 50 pages is alot to read through at work hahaha, but if there is anything that can be explained to me that I am doing wrong or that I am missing the help would be appreciated. The Rom looks very promising and i would love to use it.

Thanks.

Fab how do we get the battery icon that has percentage built in? Should I pull it from the old nextheme?

I have never tried to load the rom from Rom Manager, but I would follow the instructions in the OP. I have ran every version of Rom out there on the X and ApeX RC1, RC2 and now v1 are the BEST...:icon_ banana:

Trust me I would be scared to touch the terminal too...
But can tell you you do not use it unless you want some blur back, but the best of Blur is already in this rom. (I.e. camera) do not worry will wil not have to touch that terminal. Cause all of the good stuff is here.

Swyped from DROID X, so grammer could be awful.

So I have been running Rubix 1.0 and love it. I have done some reading about Apex now and was thinking about giving it a go. However, I am concerned about something with this ROM and if someone can alleviate those fears that would be great. There seems to be ALOT of editing that needs to be done in terminal emulator and that scares the heck out of me. I have never done that and dont know how comfortable I am with it as I dont understand how it works. If I just load in this ROM do I need to do any of those edits, and if i dont will my gmail, facbook work and sync properly with contacts (all i really care about).
Thanks

For me this was the reason I left Rubix I wanted some blurr features that were to complicated or not posible to install with that rom. I still have a back up of it in case. The edit is just for those extra's you might want.

cool thanks for the post. i have always loved the themes that go with this ROM now...I may now just have to give it a ride.

Are you planning on creating a blog/webpage/wiki for this ROM? Basically just a place to get official info without having to sift through pages of forum questions.

P.S. GREAT ROM, i'm loving it so far!

I was looking and people complained about not having lock screen controls with music well theres a app for that lol its called music player pro. its 2.76$ right now. i like it alot better than the music mod. it has the same stuff as music mod actually except when you go to albums it shows the covers only. and it has the lockscreen option. However it works like a lockscreen app and will replace your lockscreen control. but if you have the same style as the one that comes with apex you wont notice it change much. and the lock widget is the same as the widget on the homescreen so it shows the album cover and everything. i would recommend buying that. i got it after the stock one before i went to apex kept freezing up my phone alot. i used music mod for about 10 mins then seeing it was almost the same but without the lockscreen i went back to player pro. great thing about android is you can always find another route. Just the dialer cant be changed to something that's equal to it. it would be great to customize that voicemail button to open google voice or something. and voice dial open up vlingo. if i had that then i wouldnt use dialer one.

I just downloaded the actual ZIP file and tried it through bootstrapper, and im getting the same thing. Now i have to flash back to stock again. I have no clue what is going on.

My site is at fabdroid.com, but the post on there is identical to post #1 here.

Also, for the person who was having reboots, try skipping the setup and launching terminal emulator as fast as you can and type in :

su
overclock -off
reboot

You can then do a factory reset and it'll prompt you to log in again. I'm almost 100% certain your reboots are from the auto overclocking.

I think I'm going to disable that feature on the next release (though like only ~20 people have had this issue)

It is really iffy on how fast the reboot happens. Sometimes it will be 30 seconds after booting up when the phone cuts off. Other times it can be up to 2 minutes. Hopefully i can pull this off.
