[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

Thank you for the reply.
Im set back to 1.1 the phone is running fine.
going to stick with that for a bit, why push it.
I just seen a few other posts about random reboot.
If your phone is rebooting that's not good.
I feel the rom is clean, fast and snappy.
We just need to know when to chill and use the phone for what it was made to do.
I guess 1.1 is my limit, just going to look at it that way.
looking into the stress test app thanks.
peace

Have you tried just disabling overclocking?

Haven't yet. I didn't think of overclocking as the issue until I read this thread. I'll reflash tonight or tomorrow and disable the overclocking, and report back the results.
Had my phone reboot twice when I was mass-downloading my apps (after a fresh install of the ROM), when I finished I used the overlock script to disable (overclock -off) it and haven't had a reboot since.

I think fab needs to remove the stock OC settings from the rom, and just leave it as an option. Statistically, the more people he gets on this rom the more phones we'll find that can't do 1.1@ stock volts. Mike, if you like the rom, just disable OC at boot and reboot... i think that will remove the OC.
Agree with this... I almost decided to go back to Rubix because of the reboots I had on a fresh install, luckily it seems that disabling OC fixed it, been great after that.

On the dialer for this ROM, does it have the slide to answer/ignore phone calls or is it like the blur dialer where you just press a button to answer instead?

Also, can someone take a video for me with this running on their Droid X and in the video can you just show the following: Show the phone going from sleep, to the lock screen and you receiving a phone call so I can see the dialer. I want to see these things because I want to see how fast the phones backlight comes on when you press the power/sleep button because on the D1 (current phone) it takes a second or two for the screen to actually show and it can be pretty annoying sometimes. As for the dialer, I just want to see how it is on this ROM.

I'd test these myself, but I don't have a Droid X and I plan on getting one, but first I want to see a few things.

Sorry about the way that post came out.
I don't mean to say its the rom.
I am thinking its the overclocking.
1.2 maybe to much for the moto droidx.
I have it back at 1.1 has not rebooted as of yet.
15 hour or so up time.
Note no game playing.

What vesel are you running at 1.2? I run 1.2 no problem on ApeX but with the vesel set any lower than 70 it will crash the way u say... at 70 i can run it hard all day with no freezes or call issues... (ive had all the issues you described trying lower vesel) Maybe some cpu's can handle these lower voltages but even the stock 1.1 at 64 vesel was freezing me from time to time... I think my cpu might just like to run hot

How do you change the vesel?

I'm sorry, but for some reason, your response confuses me. It is not instantaneous, as in it, it's slow on the DX?

Answer max vsel for dx/ d2.
for 1.1 its 56.

For 1.2 it's 62.
These are set values, you choose an overclock value.
I dont change the settings I just pick an overclock value.

1.2 6.2 =
Max vsel 62
max rate 1200000
Slot1 min
400000
27
slot2
700000
38
slot3
1000000
56
Slot4 1200000 max speed
62
This choice makes the droidx reboot random

:) "its all but instaneous," meaning it is everything before, but falling just short of being instantaneous. As opposed to, "its anything but instantaneous," which typically carries a negative connotation and would imply that the operation could certainly not be classified as instantaneous. They are similar in definition, but the connotation makes the difference. :)

Alright, I think I'm getting it now... so basically, it's pretty damn fast, right? ;)

This was my first attempt at putting any kind of custom ROM on this phone. Being new to Android, I was really nervous about doing this, but thankfully there's enough good info here and on the web that walked me through how to do everything from Nandroid Backups, to putting a custom ROM on there.

WOW. What a difference. I'm LOVING this ROM. The only problem that I had, was that I couldn't get Corp Sync to work properly (kept telling me it couldn't see the server), but I figured with the inclusion of Touchdown, maybe this was normal. So, no biggie. I have used that instead. I'm LOVING the speed of this ROM and how smooth it has made my phone. I can tell a major difference, even in normal things like surfing the web.

For those that aren't running any custom ROMs on their phone, you really want to check this one out. It's like having a new phone all over again.

So I have been running Rubix 1.0 and love it. I have done some reading about Apex now and was thinking about giving it a go. However, I am concerned about something with this ROM and if someone can alleviate those fears that would be great. There seems to be ALOT of editing that needs to be done in terminal emulator and that scares the heck out of me. I have never done that and dont know how comfortable I am with it as I dont understand how it works. If I just load in this ROM do I need to do any of those edits, and if i dont will my gmail, facbook work and sync properly with contacts (all i really care about).
Thanks
