[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

Hey Fab, thanks for all the hard work on this rom. I have a few questions. First off, I have your original posted ROM without the overclock (not sure which version # it is).

After using the ROM for a while, I noticed that the GPS takes forever to lock on a signal. Nothing has changed about my GPS usage. It just seems that it forgets where it is, and can't get a lock for the life of it. It takes about 15 minutes for a lock--very frustrating. I don't disable the GPS (leave it enabled). Is this related to the ROM? Anything I can do?

The wireless tether feature force closes when I try to open it. I tried doing the
su
tether -rm
tether -rs
but this didn't fix the problem.

Also, does V1.0 include any new features from the one that I may have installed? If so, do I follow the same instructions as before or is there an easy way to install this?

And lastly, where are the instructions on how to install a theme you have included in this thread?

Thanks!

I have never tried to load the rom from Rom Manager, but I would follow the instructions in the OP. I have ran every version of Rom out there on the X and ApeX RC1, RC2 and now v1 are the BEST...:icon_ banana:

I just downloaded the actual ZIP file and tried it through bootstrapper, and im getting the same thing. Now i have to flash back to stock again. I have no clue what is going on.

Did you FORMAT data and cache from mounts menu or just wipe?

I completely format data and cache from the recovery menu. I am about to try to do the terminal procedure and disable the overclock feature.

I installed Apex this morning...
What is the easiest way to get all my contacts back?
I think other than my backed up restore point, I only had all my contacts saved with Backup Assistant from BigRed....
Not synced with google...
Am I screwed?

Can I install backupassistanceclient.apk and android-syncservice-app.apk like in RubiX to get back my contacts?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can do that. Did it on my roommates X yesterday. Specific instructions are in this thread a few pages back. Install ALL of the components listed, and yes, it's case-sensitive.

and, like i told him, BACK UP YOUR FRIGGIN CONTACTS ON GOOGLE.

cant put it down

Well I know many of you have worked hard at this craft.
I for 1 respect the skill you have and time put in.
Im a 43 year old, run machines, grew up on dos.
So this is not to bad, I just got my first smart phone, the dx 2.2.
Started out just wanting to get the bull sys apps removed.
In less then one month, I have learned how to root.
Limitless droid 1 step.
terminal bootanimation change limitlessdriod.
Then the rom world OMG.
So much going on, now running apex v1, every thing I set out to do.
Has worked out and been fun.
With out many of you we would just trash these phones.
Thanks for helping all the time.

Was just on fabolous site.
Looked over these forums, there are a few ways to install a theme.
fabs. Posted theme on page one, how is this installed.
Edit, I found it in the back pages. Recover install from sd.
back up first, just had to read a mess.

2 just info I learned from fabs twitter we should not have his overclock enable.
then be trying to use dx/d2 as well. I think that was the root of a problem I had.
leave it to a noob A. Lol

Glad everything is running smoothly. It really is like a whole new phone. dancedroid

having severe network issues and the dialing of 22899 and airplane mode are not fixing it..

What ROM/install you are coming from and how you performed the install are crucial factors. I would suggest using the reboot recovery method, and following it to the letter.

I want to try the REVOlution Theme but I am currently using the NexTheme. Can I apply it over my current theme in rom manager, and if I don't like it, can I just switch back?

Do I have to clear cache or data or anything?

Just do a complete backup from bootstrap, apply it over the top, and see what happens... IMO, you should ALWAYS have a theme-less backup to revert to. It will be a clean install that you can than apply a theme over the top of, without risk of conflicts between themes. Worst case scenario, you have to SBF. Having a theme-less backup takes all the guess work out.
