[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

Been using this ROM for the last 48 hours...overall it's fast. I didn't have a problem with it until today and I'm not sure if it's the ROM...

1. This morning, the screen goes black and when I hit the power button it doesn't wake or come back on. I pressed the power button a couple more times and then finally the display came on. The phone did not reboot, it just took like forever to power the screen up and get me to the unlock.

2. During lunch, I was having some weird issues. I would get a notification that I have an email and when I went to unlock the phone, the screen would just sit at the unlock even after I unlocked it. When it did finally go past the unlock and got me to the desktop, the desktop icons were all gone. I tried to pull the notification bar down but it just sat there. I wasn't able to do anything and then after like a minute it started working again. All the icons showed up again and the notification bar works again. I did not reboot the phone at all.

Anyone else experiencing this???

1. When is the last time you rebooted before this issue? Do you have the stock OverClock enabled? anything higher or did u turn it off?

2. What launcher are you running? Custom icons? lots of widgets? did you reboot and is it still lagging/redrawing?

After realizing that the 1.3 gHz nearly bricked my phone, I restored and no longer have the AOSP camera feature, which is super rad. I tried to look in the extracted .zip but found nothing that was able to help. Perhaps I moss something. There an .apk that I can download to restore the AOSP for the cam?

Also, is there any way to modify how many rows and columns there are on the home screen? I really enjoy the REV theme but want more compact screens and don't want to use LP or ADW. I've only been using ROMs for two days now and am quite the newb.

Thanks.

Not without LP...just do it! it's free! :) Dunno about the AOSP camera...it nerfs the DX camera so i don't use it.

I'm a photographer and the ability to adjust the exposure and ISO so easily with the AOSP is awesome. Too many menus to navigate through with the DX camera and the results aren't instant. That is the only thing that has really bothered me so far with this phone.

Yeah, I should have held off the question until I played some more. Now it seems to work!

Here's what I installed:

- BlurEmail.apk
- BlurEmailEngine.apk
- Messaging.apk
- UniversalInbox.apk

Sticking with ApeX now!

Update: You'll also need BlurCalendar.apk to view and accept meeting invites! (Found out the hard way :) )

I installed these apk's, but still seem to have the ASOP email client running. Am I missing something?

EDIT: I found my missing brain - it's a separate app, not a direct replacement.

I miss the stock text messaging app on 2.2. It had the conversation bubbles but in a droid x way. I have installed some blur from that zip file you posted of stuff you took out but I cant seem to find what part gets that back.

I dont wanna use chompsms or handcent before anybody says to try those. I want that stock app back

Found it....Conversations.apk...But it closes as soon as you open it.

That would mean you're missing some other .apk. I don't do text messaging (company won't pay for it), so I'm not sure which it is. I'll take a look if I get time.

EDIT: I checked with what I had so far and then adding Conversations.apk, and it seemed to work fine. It brought up the "To:" and message dialog. Didn't test any further though.

Im a photographer too, which I have a DSLR for.

However, it's difficult I get into a lot of sporting events with a detachable lens camera, in which circumstance the panoramic mode of the blur camera comes in very handy. Its a neat trick. :)

1. Last time I rebooted was when I turned off the overclock after flashing the rom.

2. I am using Launcher Pro. Just the regular icons. Only widgets are weather, calendar, power, music. I did not reboot after the issues.

Maybe I'm just not up to speed.....

I'm having a very difficult time trying to load this rom.

I'm rooted, and I'm using Koush's utility. I "format data" and "format cache". Then load the rom from .zip file on sdcard. I says it loads. Then I reboot.

However, all it does is end up basically doing a factory reset. No custom rom. All the Blur.

I've tried the Rom Manager app, but all it ends up doing is freezing on the M logo.

What am I missing?

Has anyone figured out how to disable auto rotation on the homescreens? It's really getting on my nerves. I love this ROM otherwise. Running v1.0 with REVOlution theme.

It was bugging me too, I ended up installing Launcher2.apk from another ROM and removing the TranQ launcher...
