[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

quick question, how can we get our gmail to automatically sync as before? On OTA 2.2, i was able to get notification almost instantly when i get a new email, my phone doesn't do that anymore. The only option that comes close is the 5 min. sync on the Email app, but i prefer using Gmail app and love the automatic sync and instant notification option.

EDIT: Found the solution using auto sync widget..

"Can not create a new contact without a valid account"

I am running Apex V1.0 and whenever I try and add a contact I get the following message: "Can not create a new contact without a valid account". I am using corporate sync for my work exchange account and my hotmail account and I have gmail set up to sync my contacts and my gmail messages. I do not sync my exchange contacts...just my Gmail contacts. My exchange account is set as my "Default email acount". I installed a few of the blur apks to get the corporate sync function to work and a few other fuctions working. This is what I installed:

BlurContacts.apk
BlurContactsSync.apk
BlurEmail.apk
BlurEmailEngine.apk
BlurCalendar.apk

Am I missing an apk that controls adding contacts? I am able to send and receive messages with my Gmail account and when I add a contact in Gmail on my computer the new contact syncs to my phone...I am just unable to add a new contact from my phone. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

First of all let me say I like this rom and the UI is responsive and smooth. I installed it 2 days ago and since then have had many restarts and times when the phone froze. I tried to send this message from the droid forum app and my phone froze twice with typing the message. Has anyone else had these problem? I would like to keep using Apex, but if this problem continues I'll have to go back to stock rom. I'd rather have a little lag than a phone that I have to reboot 3-5 times a day.

In terminal emulator:
Type su
Then type overclock -off

Then reboot

Seems to be working so far. Thanks. Really like this rom!

I don't know if this has been posted before but--

Does the stock "Dock Mode" Work with the DX w/ Apex? I am thinking about buying a multimedia station but i want the nifty dock mode app. If it doesn't work, can i install it? or is there a better app i can download from the market? I've messed around with a fridge magnet on the back, and i can get car dock to come up, but all i get for the dock mode is a menu that comes up with choices..................................

OH WAIT i just got the dock mode to come up, but predictably none of the blur widgets.
Confirmed this is working, i will be buying a dock shortly

Hey does anyone know how to get the droid x messaging app back? I installed conversations.apk but when I open the app it closes immediately

I followed the instructions to get bluremail back but it too closes immediately after opening. No force close it just flashes open then closes.

Hey rho
You need to install BlueEmailEngine.apk Messaging.apk. and BlurEmail.apk I installed those and mine is working

so followed the directions to a t... seems to be going ok - rebooting now - hung on the "m" at boot for a few seconds longer than it did before - scared the crap out of me.. but then it moved on to the boot animation - and off we go.. that was not bad at all.. I wasnt sure what do do after the install, but figured out to hit the back arrow and then just select reboot. so now I guess I need to get titanium backup installed and then restore those apps that were on the phone before.. one question - if I want to go back to the completebackup before I put this rom on - how would that be done? thanks jim

Did you make a full nandroid backup? If so, you do the same thing you did to install the ROM, except select your backup file this time. I think there are a few more steps here then this though. Someone can fill in the gaps. I'm pretty new to this stuff as well.

I just got it installed. It seems that my 3G data connection is actually worse than the stock 2.2. Anyone have any ideas? The overclock doesn't seem to be affecting anything (other than making things smoother) and the phone isn't hot or anything. I still get 3G, but it was kind of spotty in my office before, now it's really spotty to getting only 1x most of the time.

Otherwise, it's very awesome. I love it otherwise and hope to have more time to spend on it. But the 3G connection is a necessity for me.

A lot of head scratching...

Hey rho

Are you sure it's not "BlurEmailEngine.apk"? I installed that along with the other recommended apk's and can't seem to accept meeting invites.

If there is a "BlueEmailEngine.apk", where could I find it?
