[ROM] [ROM] ApeX V1.4.1 for Droid X & Droid 2 - Refinement and Ease of Use (2/22/2011)

I was wondering for the bootanimation....I just changed the bootanimation to a custom one off of XDA and I like it a lot but as soon as I changed it now the THX sound file doesnt work anymore. I was wondering is there a way to still have the sound play or even a different sound play with the new custom animation?

yes, but it involves editing the desc.txt file within bootanimation.zip. you can shoot me a pm if you need a hand.

I am 1.4.0 and am having problems with my bluetooth going through the blue tooth on my motorcycle. I will prob. Flash tomorrow to 1.4.1. I really need to get it to work while on the bike so I do miss any emergencies at tue hospitals.

Ok, so before I throw my phone at the wall....

What does it take to make the gallery see new pictures? I just downloaded a zip of wallpapers and I cannot make them visible to the gallery to save my life! I moved them around to 5 different folders that contain pictures that I CAN see, but they are ignored by the gallery. I've had this problem before which is why there are 50 icons in my DCIM folder....but not even that is working.

I have tried both galleries and also tried force closings and clearing data. Still they ignore my pictures.

Lucky for me though the gallery has ALWAYS been able to find my album art, which is really freaking helpful.....NOT
After downloading you should extract them from the zip then locate them in the folder mark "extracted" , open what ever you downloaded i.e. pictures, icons or wallpapers once you see them exit and reboot your phone then open the Gallery , they might take some time to load up at first .

I love this ROM the most; I think it certainly has the best of both worlds. The customization is great. I'm left wondering about this throttling feature. What does it do? Does it stop Verizon from throttling your phone for using too much data?

Before the patch my download speed was 2.2 afterwards I get 2.9. It makes a difference especially since I d/l about 6 gbs every month just from streaming video and web surfing and app downloads.

Data throttling removes the throttle from Verizon. It will result in higher internet (3g) speeds. They slow you down after a certain amount of data, and if you are in a heavy traffic area (such as a big city) a lot of users need data so they slow everyone down so the network doesn't get clogged.

It should result in faster 3g (speedtest.net app can tell you before/after) but some are more noticeable than others because of the area they are in.

I don't live in a huge city, but removing it helps me some. Some days more than other days, but at the end of the month when I rack up the data, it helps.

Thans for the quick response

Thanks for the clarification Kheeney5..... i think since i live in a metro area i have decited to removed it .. .. hopefully will help !! thanks again ...

Here's the user friendly description I wrote up a while back:

What is data throttling and how does it work?
It works like this:
You get a shiney new smartphone that "does"
You get the unlimited data plan so that you can "do"
The man, says that unlimited isn't really unlimited
but they don't really tell you that part
If you use more data than "the man" likes, they start to slow you down

So basically on an unlimited data plan, if you go over 5gb of usage per month, you get throttled (they slow down your connection). This can also be the case in congested metropolitan areas (like D.C.).

By removing the throttle, you are not letting your android phone accept "the man's" terms of the slow down, and you can run at full capacity all the time.

I think I tried that last week and I bricked. Is there a sure way to do it via the toolbox?

Data throttling is removed by DEFAULT.

The options to change this are in 'Services.jar' tweaks in the Toolbox.

I'm assuming you have to wipe data and cache before flashing 1.4.1. I just flashed it w/o wiping and I cannot access my home screen, it just sits at a black screen with my notification bar. I can access apostles just fine, but everything else sits at a black screen

Fab, all I have to say is amazing job my friend. I have to admit, I ran Apex from 1.0 until 1.3.1, at which point I changed flavor and went to Liberty. I saw 1.4 released and gave it a shot. I am in no way downing Liberty, as I think it is a great ROM, but this version 1.4 just simply runs amazing on my DX. I am astonished by the battery life I am getting now. Keep up the good work Fab, loving your Rom!dancedroid

this is recommended, for a clean install. but you want all you need to wipe is Cache and you should be good.
