[ROM] rubiX Focused 0.3

OK possible retard question , so please save the Pwnage for my next post
I am running OTA DEodexed Black Glass and thats it.
If I make a backup using Rom manager, that backs up everything I have currently (duh)
then i flash this ROM (following all instructions of course), then
If for some weird reason I no longer want this ROM, will my Rom manager backup be there, can I revert to it, and everything be as it was prior to Rubix?

Very simply, yes.
Just format data, cache, system again, not sure if this is necessary for backups but mount system, then restore your backup. it'll restore it to the EXACT same state it was in at the time it was made.

Just installed this and the calendar fix and the brightness fix on my and my friend's DXs.

A quick tip for everyone else. I tried installing the update, and the two patched one after the other all before rebooting. I mounted system before the first, but didnt realise it unmounts after each install. Once I figured that out, the brightness and calendar installed correctly

So just make sure to mount system again after each install.

nope. check the download size. should be around 87 mb. try redownloading, then copy again

Loving this ROM, fast as hell!

This was noted earlier but I don't think it's been addressed. I too am getting the constant sync icon in the notification bar, my battery life is about 5-8 hours shorter since I installed this ROM and I'm assuming it's because of this constant syncing... any way to fix this?

After you installed the ROM, what other changes were made?
--Did you restore files from a backup (backup pro, or titanium backup)?
--What theme(s) have been installed, if so, was the theme designed for blurless roms.

I'm guessing you've got something running outside of the default ROM apps/etc. that's causing it. The best method I know if to determine what it is... is to use Titanium Backup to start freezing applications one at a time to figure out what it is.. :S

Yep, the restore is probably your culprit.

The only way I know to fix it, is to use Titanium Backup to start freezing applications, until the sync goes away in the notifications. When it does, you'll have found the application that's causing it.
I wish I knew more about doing this, as I've not done it before, but have read of it being done in other threads.

Even if you do get it, there's always the possibility that it's not the only issue, you could run into others later on.. so keep that in mind.

In the long run, the cleanest way to fix it, is to just reinstall the rom again, deleting the cache, data, etc. as per the instructions. Setting things up manually would fix the issue, and probably give you a cleaner install as well...

Edit: I would note that using Titanium Backup or Backup Pro is ok to restore just applications, but is a bad idea to restore settings and data between roms...
I've also heard that it's easier to select backing up apps only in backup pro than titanium... if that's helpful (?).

Wish I could be of more help... at least I think we've figured out the cause.. now just to find the best way for you to resolve it.

I have the constant sync icon also and i haven't loaded this ROM Yet. Therefore, it must be something other than the ROM causing it. I checked in My Accounts, and my Gmail accounts have a sync icon beside them constantly, so it must be the gmail causing it. Hopefully when I load this ROM after the next update, it will go away.

Edit: Loaded this ROM and the Incognito Theme and the sync icon is gone now. This combo with LP is blazing fast.

stock camera app keeps closing when trying to take a panoramic picture?

The camera app might be overoptimized. I barely use the camera so I've yet to personally test this, and it's an issue I've neglected. I'll post a clean camera app for you. Just extract it and adb push to system/app or copy with root explorer and change permissions and reboot.

Question, which permissions do I check off in root explorer? All the boxes? Or should it be like the rest of the apps with User, Group, others able to read, and only users able to write?

I had this same problem when I restored using Titanium backup. It was killing my battery too. I fixed it by going to the market and downloading "MyBackup." There is a free trial version available. Use this to backup all Apps/data then use it to restore. The sync icon is a common problem when restoring all your apps data through Titanium backup. I hope this helps!
