edit : looks like it might be a bad zip

For the .340 OTA update, is our current rooting method likely to work, or will we likely to wait a while for rooting?

Going on 6 hours today and battery still at 90%. Very low usage thus far today with just < 10 minutes of phone calls, but about 30 emails read, and 25 or so text messages.

Oh yeah, I'm not actually running Rubix, I just like to grab the processor and memory tweaks to implement them on stock. I have to say, with the tweaks in place, I don't see much difference in performance between Rubix and stock with adw.

Drod, amazing work on the roms. The sad thing is that I'd be on Rubix if I could move email in the email app. I have a second job that I only do during nights, so all day long, I'm re-organizing email into folders so that I know what to work on in the evening. Not having that feature is a deal breaker for this amazing rom.

Drod didn't write the email application that's in the ROM. It's part of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), here's the link to the source code for the email app:
android.git.kernel.org Git - platform/packages/apps/Email.git/summary

Feel free to contact the developer of that applicaiton, or write a patch yourself though... *shrug* That's the power of open source.

Or, if you happen to know of another system email application (not a market app) that would work better in it's place, feel free to suggest it to drod.. I don't know of any others/better/otherwise...

Sorry for not having better news.. but as soon as the the app is updated, I'm sure it will be included in the ROM. Until then, 3rd party/market/whtaever apps are the only/best options out there!

Just about all is well. I'm not getting the extreame battery gains that some of you are posting. However, after more than 24 hrs of use, I am seeing some gains though.

I have seen that our DX's will be getting an update [Version number is 2.3.340 and Android version is 2.2.1.](not Gingerbread though, yet, if ever). My questions is what happens when you guys/gals go to About Phone and selcet System Updates? My screen goes black. Not locked just a black screen. My CPU's show no activity either during the black screen. How, can we get this update? Will this ROM be updated or what?

Droid X to receive update… no not Gingerbread
If we backed up our stock 2.2 with BootStrap prior to loading the non-leak version of 1.9 Rubix....instead of sbf'ing, can we just go back to the stock 2.2 via the 'restore' from Bootstrap, and then load the new .340.?

The update is a patch. It does not replace system files, it patches them. It will first check to verify that the files it's going to patch are there, and the versions it's expecting, and it will then attempt to apply the patch(es).

So, if you're rooted, or have the clockwork recovery hack in place (logwrapper isn't the right version) etc. etc. etc., the OTA will likely fail.
If you go back to a backup, you will still likely need to make a few changes to make the OTA apply correctly... OR, you can .sbf, apply the OTA, and then reload whatever you want from there. (Also an option to just load TBH's leak 320 (and/or 340, IF they release something... ?)

There are optoins. As the leak approaches, there will be all kinds of threads about what needs to be done to prepare... keep your eyes open. And I highly recommend waiting at least a day or two to let people figure stuff out before rushing into it... but doubt many people will do that.. :S

I'm sure too. But like I said in this other post ----> I want to avoid it.....until it's hacked up into a custom ROM. I trust you strangers (developers) more that these mulit-million $ companies.

EDIT: As I'm sure it'll re-Blur my DX.....:icon_evil:

If you stay on 1.9.0 you'll never even know there's a patch available.

Ignorance really can be bliss.

Though, it'd be nice if Drod's ROMs could integrate into ROM Manager for even a rudimentary update check.

I've been handling ROM Manager for Drod. I dont' have premium.. so not easy for me to test versioning for the ota checker...

I haven't put the last few versions in for Drod, because ROM Manager has made it a NIGHTMARE to support. People don't read ANYTHING before installing via ROM Manager...
Especially the nightmare that would be the case with the leak and non-leak versions....
:S

Have a questions and was hoping someone may have some advice....I am currently running focused 1.9 and have pretty much ever since .5, but never took the 2.2 OTA. 30.01 runs really great for me and i did not want to change that after reading about the issues that the 2.2 OTA created for some. The only known issue i have sticking with 30.01 is the battery force close. With the new verizon/moto OTA comming out soon would it be wise to flash back to 2.1 accept the 2.2 OTA before the new OTA comes out, or will it likely have a path from 2.1 to the new OTA?
Thanks.

Sephtin, Thanks. You need to take a break every once in a while, you're gonna burn out :). I know the email app is not Drod's doing and that it's android standard... My point was that it's crazy that its the only thing the really keeps pulling me back to a blurry setup.

Just have a feeling that the same issue is gonna keep you from UD, Focused, Fission, and any others that may come out and are fully based on AOSP. And that sucks! :(
Hopefully there ARE alternatives that will work for you. I'm totally with you, just wanted to make it clear that it's not really the ROM, or dev's fault... not much can be done until someone finds something that works better! ;)

Regarding burn-out... I'm way past that... lol

When things quiet down from 1.9.0, I'll likely take more of a break from the boards as well.
I'm honestly not sure what I'm going to run when 2.3.340 comes out.

I know I'll be running drod's 2.0.x (Full AOSP) when it's ready though...

a this point is there an sbf, even a partial, for .320/340. don't like upgrading w/o a backup plan in place

been running drods work since his first X rom and love em all blurry or not

Droid X: 2.3.32 Full SBF

Edit, was a bit scary. Had never ran the process.
I used rsdlite 4.8 loaded just fine, just a few mouse clicks.
Dx bootlooped, freaked me out. Forgot about holding power and home.
But after the data wipe all was fine.
Made the dx seem like I just took it out of the box.
Z4 from harddrive. Loaded rubix 1.9.0, running like silk.

Nothing makes you feel alive like a post-SBF boot-looping $500 phone. dancedroid

[Off Topic]Did you have any luck with Improved Email? It's got some quirks (like losing the per-account color settings whenever you change any other account setting, and unable to move emails in Hotmail EAS), but I think it's a nice improvement over the AOSP version. I tried the trials of the other email apps that support Exchange (Touchdown, Roadsync, and Moxier), and they all had nice features, but they were also all, in my opinion, ass ugly. I do with Improved Email supported HTML email, but that's hardly a dealbreaker for me.[/Off Topic]

Haven't tried it yet. Right after I got my phone set up for re-installing rubix(nandroid, titanium backup), the talk of the newest ota update came up. I decided to hold out and stay stock until after that update, then I'll do rubix again once it's updated for the update (wow, that sure makes sense)

That discussion did lead me to download Improved E-Mail and it does appear to fix the issue of Moving messages into folders. It also fixes a problem I had where Signature was only added to New messages, not forwards or replies (its a setting in Improved E-mail - not set by default though)

When I installed it, it acted a little weird at first since It ended up setting up a second Corporate account that was virtually indistinguishable from the original. I ended up removing my original exchange account and using just the one set up by improved e-mail.
I further went into /system/app and rename email.apk to email.bak (since there were otherwise two 'E-mail' apps in the drawer.

So far so good, but will update if I have any issues.

Any one else sill getting random reboots?? Even with the lock screen turned off i'm getting about 5 reboots a day..... I'm not overclocked either. Thanks
