Second Android Update 2.2 Froyo (FRG22 Rolling) Out Now

Hi Rich,

The Market version of Flash is already out there, I found a link somewhere and downloaded and installed it last night. I'll see if I can find that link again for you...

Btw, I just checked and Flash is *not* showing up for me under P3's FRG22D (vanilla). Not sure why not...

OK, well I was unable to find Flash using the build.prop file from FRG22D. Maybe someone who claims to have the updated Flash (but same version) for the Droid can post that apk somewhere.

Thanks dwoid! I already have the "final" version. However, I saw posts claiming that once FRG22D was installed, another 10.1.92.8 build was available in the market that was supposedly compiled specifically for the Droid 1 and was running smoother. I guess I'm calling fowl. I want to see this different (same) version and compare the two.

Ahhh, gotcha...

I just got and loaded the market patch for P3's FRG22D that in theory should make Flash (and other goodies) show up on the market...

Haven't tried it yet, though because I'm now in process of getting another OTA, a different one, at 45.2MB... Could this be the long awaited official FRG22D OTA????

It's not working, and once again the reason it isn't working is because Verizon has not released the OTA. I'm not quite sure what this is that P3 has, he claims he got it on his phone. But he seems to be the only person that got it.

I think Flash will show up once VZW releases the OTA.

Where did you find a market patch for FRG22D? I have seen one for FRG22, but not D.

Not dwoid, but the market fix file is in post 54 of the OP MDW thread. I downloaded it this morning. and it looks legit. Just an update to a couple of lines in your build.prop file.

Wezil, it was in the original MDW P3Droid FRG22D thread, but you're right, it's for FRG22 and after loading it my build number was changed to FRG22 (not D). And moreso, it didn't help, so I have now re-flashed FRG22D just to get back to what worked fine for me before (or I may endup just restoring a backup).

The OTA that I just received after flashing the FRG22 Market fix was the short ESE81-to-FRG01B update. Interesting that I received it within an hour of receiving the bigger FRG01B update...

And very interestingly, now that I'm on FRG22D again, I'm once again receiving the bigger (76.9MB) FRG01B update.

I didn't believe it before, but it looks like the OTA process does look at something to try to identify what update to deliver. Since none of these three OTAs today were triggered before I rebooted, it looks like the OTA at least looks at a reboot and/or some similar event to send the OTA, and then it tries either one FRG01B package or the other depending on some criteria that has been programmed into the OTA process.

I'll check this OTA update file again, if it's not FRG01B you'll all hear a scream from this direction. Otherwise you'll hear it thump into the dumpster.

there is a market fix out there for FRG22 and there is one for the original Froyo leak (Market_fix_bgill55). I think the correct anwser is like has beens said about 30x already. That until the OTA starts to hit regular folks the market will not recognize it. Once FRG22D hits then everything will be A-OK.

For myself, and this guy, flash is showing up in the market on a fresh install of FRG22D - i.e. no market fixes or anything. All of the other issues remain for me, but flash is showing up now.

So it looks like no matter what you do, with in 1 hour of installing P3's FRG22D you will get the update download. As we all know SPrecovery and Clockwork will block these. Now only time will tell if it is a one time event or it will try and update every day. Like the FRG22 leak did.

I had removed the update files from cache either manually or by formatting cache at flash time. I suspect if you leave the file in place, you may not receive the update until the next build is sent. I'm leaving the current one in place, we'll see if I get another update notice for FRG01B...

I have to wonder if flash showing up for those FRG22D users who have it in Market is because of some other phone's system software that they are running. It's certainly not showing up for me in Market with pretty vanilla P3-FRG22D/Chevy/01P and stand-alone ADW, although I'm in no rush because I have loaded it off the Web.

The previous OTA updates were loading immediately after I booted a new build. I'm not loading one now. I suspect I would have been loading one now if I didn't have the last one in my cache. How the OTA determines which one to send is a curiosity.

Interesting...All I see is the Adobe Flash Showcase. Not a big deal because it is easy to side-load...but interesting none the less.

Area you able to see protected apps too?

I just wanted to see if I could get it to show up, and also stop the OTA update so here is what I did:
-Copies the OTA to root and renamed it update.zip
-Accepted install and reboot on the FRG01B update
-Update recovery blocked the update so I went ahead and ran it from the update.zip
-This worked fine except I lost root and it installed the default recovery
-I reinstalled SPrecovery_ESE81.sdf using RSD Lite.
-This did not make my phone happy but it installed SPrecovery fine.
-Did a battery pull and flashed the FRG22D.

Everything is back to where it was. With in 5 mins I got the FRG01B Update again. So all that work and seems about the same. Howerver it runs pretty well using ChevyNo1 1.1Ghz kernal. Checked the settings and QUadrant and the both say everything is FRG22D.

Sometimes its fun to to F-around with it because you can

Not sure if this was directed at me, but I am a little confused. Yes I understand the different market fixes Bill has posted. My reply was for the one in the original MDW thread for 22D, so it should be the one you would want if you want. I say this as I have no intention of changing my build fingerprint to fiddle with the market. No need, as the market stuff can be had in one way or another. But folks will have to try the install of 22D to see if they are fully functional, and then decide if they want to "trick" the market. Right now I am running the original deodexed FRF22, and I am seeing all of the new google aps, but not flash. But, the version of flash I installed manually is working great.

As I posted way back in this thread, it is my belief that market could be broken for the simple reason that before any update is pushed OTA, VZW/Moto have to release the source files to the developers (market not hackers) through proper channels. To date this has been the case for most if not all of the releases. Usually it is an API version (build version number in your build.prop file in system). Although some folks report market working/seeing flash and the phone, methinks this go round Flash has some other triggers at work. In general, these leaks have usually broken some number of apps for some folks, as the market is not yet ready for the leak. I am pretty sure that FRF22D is gonna break other apps for folks, it is just that flash is the focal point right now for many.

And Dwoid, what is really perplexing me is that I am running the original FRF22 and I have yet to get a prompt for the FRG01 OTA, or any other for that matter. What does not make sense right now is that folks who are installing this FRF22D are getting prompted, yet I am not on FRF22. This makes me suspect that something else may be going on here. perhaps it's my theme? Who knows.

In any case, I now have a hole in my schedule now so I can give this FRF22D a test drive. I am curious to see how it will go, what my flash situation is, and whether I will finally get my 01 OTA prompt. I have been feeling a little left out:)

I'm not sure what you mean by protected apps... I'm able to see all my loaded Market apps in the download section. Maybe I need some clarification there...

Some apps are protect and are only visible for the correct build. This is what the market fiixes are for. The only on I have is Ratio by Ruhlman Enterprises
