Second Android Update 2.2 Froyo (FRG22 Rolling) Out Now

For clarification, this update is ONLY for people running either the leaked FRG22 -- and it'll break root if you install it -- or FRG01B. If you're rooted it'll break root if you install it.

The hysteria : )

People don't get to excited there is really nothing exciting about this update. Its a couple files with updated GPS and Wi-Fi drivers and also the already covered market/flash ability.

Its not going to do much else. If your hoping on it improving the overall performance of the device you will be disappointed.

I am about as confused as I can get........ I haven't paid much attention for the last couple of months or so, I just had too much other stuff going on but now I have no clue as to what is happening..

I just got an update OTA, so as of a couple of days ago I am at 2.2 with build number FR01B.

I haven't had time to do anything with my droid but use it so all I have noticed is I now have 4 and what looks like 1/4 of desktops, and where it used to say Droid upon shutting down, it now vibrates. And when it powered up and mounted the SD card it would say Droid and now says or does nothing.

Is Froyo in this update or do I have to get it myself ?

Is there another update coming OTA ??

Is it worth it?

Thanks for helping out a dead brained NOOB.....

Yes what you received is froyo, yes you now have a new launcher and 5 homescreens, no it does not say droid anymore like it used to no idea why they took out the SD notifications but they did, and under sounds I believe is where you can change the vibrate options. Yes there is another OTA coming it will let you download flash from the market and some security updates probably enterprise related. Is it worth it well thats up to you :)

dude, I can't Thank you enough,

I have been trying to catch up and am up to page 15 on the FRG01B thread, I got a loooooong way to go.... LOL

Thanks again for the quick answers, now back to reading for me....

And next on the hit list;

"Why does flash suck?!" ;)

I'm surprised this hasn't jumped to 20 pages yet. Think everyone's still recovering from the panic and freak-out that was the first update?

if you have a custom recovery such as sprecovery or clockwork you can safely allow the update because the recovery will make the install fail. so if your rooted and have a custom recovery there is no need to worry.

Thanks for the clarification. I keep forgetting there are a lot of people out there that rooted and don't know all the ins and outs yet. Appreciated!

Updated wifi drivers? That gets my attention. So which one of these development are going to make it a bailable if you're roots and want to stay rooted? Speak up, don't be shy.

I'm not going back to stock. Maybe i will have to load a ROM. I don't want to.

I apologize in advance for the coming newb question but i'm still new at this. I'm rooted with Bugless Beast 2.2 V0.4 and and just received the OTA update, but it failed. Are you saying that I can actually install the update and not screw up the mods to the phone?

Nope, you'll break root and have a stock FRG01B installation. That update is not the one this thread is about.

::sigh:: I was kinda hoping it might pep up Gallery a bit and get rid of my phantom duplicate icon folders.

There's always Gingerbread. Gingerbread is coming. Gingerbread will fix everything. Gingerbread will strike down this camp and smite our enemies!

Sorry for not getting that quote just right, I'm pulling it off the top of my head. And props to the first person who gets the reference!
