Swype Android Beta!!

Rebooted and did battery pull and rebooted. nada. no xscope fav page. I can type in the add bar and go to webpages, but I cannot save them as favorites either.

I would try to download the update again, you might need to uninstall XScope first though.

Its not working for me. When I installed it said it was not for my devices and some features might not work. The BLUE LINE SHOWSup but it beeps when I'm done. I can tap out text but not swype. I went back to the old swype I had and it worked for a day and now it says my trial period has expired. Any sugestions? I should have stuck with the old version, it was working fine.

this was a pretty smart thing for swype to do...

I installed this new beta and then reinstalled my previous version of swype. Whenever I would try to type something it said that my trial version expired and it kicked me out.

If they decide to cancel the beta version that was just released then everyone is going to be out of luck.

It has nothing to do with the beta. This morning my version of Swype said it had expired. I came on here looking to see what people were saying about it and found this thread. So our original Swype expired without installing the beta. Going to try to get the beta now so I can get Swype back.

I have the same problem. No swyping, jut tapping. Hope they fix it on Monday. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3x, no change.

I tried all the fixes and still can't get it to work. every time i reboot it tells me that i have limited function. For the hell of it, I force close Swype and tried it again and it worked. but only till the next reboot. then i have to FC it again. I guess thats why this is the beta version. might have to go back to the leaked version.

It will be interesting to hear if you have that option. I'm guessing you don't.

Same here, mine had also expired. That's why I searched for a solution and found the beta here.
I wonder how Swype got to cancel the leaked version. They must have had a backdoor to the software, or they leaked it themselves with the expiration date already in it.
Maybe they wanted to see the response to the software. Any thoughts?

Yea what the @#&*$#?!?! Do the Swype developers not know that the people willing to run a Beta, or even know that it exsits for that matter, are the same people that root and mod their Droids!?

how do ou get the other keyboards?

is there a way that i havent found yet?

The one with the real number pad and the editing one?

Swype | Text Input for Screens is the only way i could describe it lol

nah i had the "alpha" swype and it had 4 different keyboards to go through.

There was the standard one with the letters, then the one with the numbers slightly askewed.

Then AFTER that keyboard there was another one that actually had the numbers in correct alignment like a number pad of a phone with some other things on the side.

Then AFTER that one ever there was like an editing key board with arrows, select mode, page up,down and what not.

I really liked the editing and number pad keyboards.

wish i took screen shots.

Swype from the "Swype i" to "sym" for the edit screen. And swype from "Swype i" to "F" for the calculator screen.

No backdoor required. Most likely explanation is that the "leaked" version was an evaluation version with a built-in expiration date. That's a common practice. Whether Swype was aware of or behind the leak is anyone's guess. But if it was intentional the tactic clearly backfired.

The beta availability is obviously an effort to regain control of the proliferation of the software outside Swype's control while not setting off a firestorm of bad PR.
