Swype Android Beta!!

ok i got it installed, and it said "the swype package is configured for another device and will operate with limited functionality" and i tried using it and it wouldn't even work

My Droid is not rooted. I installed beta Swype last night (had issues, but got it working) and all was good this morning. Just now, I clicked on xscope (my default browser) and the favorites page is gone. I shut down my droid and pulled the battery and when i turned it back on I got the same message that you stated above. I tried to text using swype and got nothing but a beep. I uninstalled beta swype. will try to install the leaked version again. good grief.

how do ou get the other keyboards?

is there a way that i havent found yet?

The one with the real number pad and the editing one?

Swype | Text Input for Screens is the only way i could describe it lol

nah i had the "alpha" swype and it had 4 different keyboards to go through.

There was the standard one with the letters, then the one with the numbers slightly askewed.

Then AFTER that keyboard there was another one that actually had the numbers in correct alignment like a number pad of a phone with some other things on the side.

Then AFTER that one ever there was like an editing key board with arrows, select mode, page up,down and what not.

I really liked the editing and number pad keyboards.

wish i took screen shots.

"Configured with another Device" Error

A post from a senior engineer at swype:

Hi, I'm the Senor QA Engineer at Swype. Our records show that there was some technical difficulty for some users when installing Swype. We have since uploaded a new version of the installer and the Swype keyboard. Please delete both from your phone and try installing again from the site. If you continue to have problems, please let us know and we will attempt to correct any problems during our regular business hours on Monday.

Yes i had those too and like you i can't seem to find them anymore. :(

yeah i really liked the editor on. its made it really simple to post on boards with quotes and what not.

I tried to see if they had a twitter acct or anything but they dont.

i got a response from someone who works there, and i told them but he never responded.

I let Gary know that I had a problem installing through XScope last night, he has an update in the market now that fixes that and some other improvements.

I installed the xscope update this am and now my xscope fav page is gone. Error message says web page not available...

this was a pretty smart thing for swype to do...

I installed this new beta and then reinstalled my previous version of swype. Whenever I would try to type something it said that my trial version expired and it kicked me out.

If they decide to cancel the beta version that was just released then everyone is going to be out of luck.

Always try a reboot if you notice something amiss after downloading any update, that usually corrects these issues.
