Swype Android Beta!!

For those of us that have swype installed thru AdamZ's Smoked Glass ROM, not on the SDCard. Can it be removed using Terminal Emulator?

If so, will someone be kind enough to "remind" everyone of the code to do so...

I am having trouble, I uninstalled the old version, running AdamZ's smoked glass ROM, even used Root Explorer to remove the apk. I went through the install process using the installer sent in the email link, logged in, installed, says registering, then goes back to the download and says Please wait, downloading Swype....and it just sits there with the indicator spinning and spnning. I can leave it for 5-10 minutes and it still spins. If I hit the home key and go to settings/applications/manage applications it shows in the list as installed, if I go to settings/language and keyboard it shows swype as one of the checked keyboards. But if I tap swype settings nothing happens and if I choose swype as an input method in a text field no keyboard appears. I have restarted the device twice and attempted the install 3 times now but it just keeps doing the same thing. Grr.....any advise?

EDIT: I wiped my phone, and went back to the original 2.0.1 and it installed fine, I was having video issues with that anyway....

Swype | Text Input for Screens is the only way i could describe it lol

nah i had the "alpha" swype and it had 4 different keyboards to go through.

There was the standard one with the letters, then the one with the numbers slightly askewed.

Then AFTER that keyboard there was another one that actually had the numbers in correct alignment like a number pad of a phone with some other things on the side.

Then AFTER that one ever there was like an editing key board with arrows, select mode, page up,down and what not.

I really liked the editing and number pad keyboards.

wish i took screen shots.

Swype from the "Swype i" to "sym" for the edit screen. And swype from "Swype i" to "F" for the calculator screen.

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I thought this feature was gone! With the Droid in portrait mode, inserting text can be challenging.

this may be a stupid question but is this the same version I downloaded from droid life? how do I know the difference and do I have to uninstall the first one before loading the new one?

I downloaded and installed just fine, but anytime I reboot my phone I can't get it to work.

Same here.

I did have a minor problem with the swyping not working at first. I could peck out words, but it would offer no suggestions, seemed to me like there was no dictionary. On a hunch I force stopped and now it works perfectly.

Make sure your junk mail filter isn't catching it. I know that's a long shot, but you'd be surprised what it's snatched of mine before!

I don't know; I got from another site. The one I got from Swype (registering, downloading and installing) didn't work. If you look at your applications, the new version should be 5612.

And yes, you should uninstall the old version before installing.

My trial expired this morning. I'm running Smoked Glass 5.0.1. and still cant get it to work. I mounted the SD card, did a search for Swype and deleted all files. Then I downloaded the file from the link, went to Root Explorer and ran the apk. It still says "can not download, a previous version exists. Uninstall..blah blah blah." Anyone find a workaround?
