[ROM] The CM7 Gingerbread ROM (CM4D2-GB) is now ready for prime time!

That's awesome man! I was trying to learn more about actual theory, notes, and scales, but my job and school don't make it too easy on me. The most I've done is learn a few songs using tabs. People will hear me play and ask me to jam all of the time, but I never really learned how to jam. It's a shame really.

Theory is my specialty. I'm formally trained in saxophone, but also play guitar and piano professionally as well.

Anytime you want to learn theory, let me know. I'd be happy to help!

I sensed we had more than droid modding. I am a theory junkie! I have a 25 page complete thematic analysis of Beethoven's 5th symphony.

Just so I don't totally hijack this thread.... Any word on updates for our CM7GB, or is the dev team on vaca? If they are it's cool. They deserve it for all they have done for our phones.

I get the feeling I missed something big? I have been traveling for awhile and haven't kept up with this thread. When I left it was at about 20 pages, now 76! I read back through about 20 pages and, from what I can tell, an official OTA update came out sometime shortly after I upgraded to CM7 GB? (8/25)

Can anybody give me a quick recap of what I missed and what has changed between then and today?

The short version... Jbird and Rev first got cm7 running on the gb kernel. It was working on the leaked gb. Then moto finally pushed out the official gb for d2. Now the latest cm7 builds are running on the official gb kernel.

Most people are getting better battery life, bluetooth works right, speed is a bit better. To top it all off we got some awesome tweaks from JakebitesMods that make these phones competitive.

I had no idea so many people were so musically inclined. I played tenor for about three years, but that was all. I'll keep that in mind if I have any questions Idopa. Thanks!

Technically my degree is in jazz guitar. But that doesn't exactly qualify me to do anything.

I don't know too much about the different styles of guitar playing are, but jazz and blues do interest me. And now so i don't completely highjack the thread.....

The official OTA for the Droid 2 has been released. It fixed and updated quite a bit, namely, the kernel. CM7 GB has shifted to working with the OTA, which is resulting in better stability and battery life (for me anyway). You can find the link to the new and improved CM7 here: [DEV_THREAD]Droid 2 CM7 with Gingerbread Leak Kernel All of the instructions for installing the new CM7 can be found in the initial post. There are two major tweaks that everyone is using, and these are the V6 Supercharger script and the Jakebitesmod tweaks here and here respectively: [Script][Update 9 Beta 3!] V6 SuperCharger! The ONLY Android MEMORY FIXER! 3G & KAK! - xda-developers [Mods] JakebitesMods v6 for D2 OTA GB Kernel CM7 [Mods] Happy flashing!:icon_ banana:

Wow...I was waaaay late trying to help that guy, and feel kind of foolish for writing all of that......*BIG SIGH*

can someone point me in the right direction for calibrating my battery?

There is free app on the market called battery calibrator. I like to use that one because it allows me to see what the battery voltage is prior to calibrating. I usually fully charge overnight, hit calibrate in the app, run the battery dead, and then recharge to 100%. Don't completely drain your battery too often though, as this can ruin it. You don't need to do this if you're just updating the rom that you're on.

Edit: By the way, you don't need to charge it overnight just to run the app. That's just how I calibrate mine. You'll know that it's fully charged when that voltage reaches its maximum and won't rise anymore. Mine stops at 4187mv. Yours may be a little higher or lower.

Thanks everybody for the quick replies! This is one hell of a forum and an incredible tool for guys like me. (Makes me want to keep my D2 instead of upgrading to the Samsung GS2)

I am stuck with only a Macbook Pro right now, anybody know if SBF is possible with it or would I be better off to wait until I get in front of a PC?

Never calibrated before. so I suppose i will charge the puppy to 100% and let it drain.

Now i just need to figure out Jakesmods.

Also the launcher is uber slow. am i wasting battery and performance if i throw something like Golauncher Ex in?
