★☆★ The Official "I got my Galaxy Nexus" Thread ★☆★

I was 6th in line at Verizon on O Street in Lincoln Ne at 9:00 am this morning. Had a good time bemoaning the delays with the other Nexters. I didn't get the extended battery - wondering if that was a mistake..

Was first to get the GNex at Costco in Norwalk CT today. It was not early. Many had come before me, but the shipment did not get there until later.
Now, I'll need to learn how to use it. Previously had the Bionic; really loved it, but wanted a new toy.

Guess I spoke too soon, but for whatever reason, she wouldn't update to 4.0.2. Finally did, but it's been about 10 min, and no data yet. Should I worry? When I rented a Charge it was instantaneous.

Well, seems I got a galactic lemon nexus. :( Won't activate. I'm a sad panda :frown:

The same thing happened to me. I was there for two hours and I knew which phone I was going in for and they weren't waiting on anyone else. They couldn't activate the phone. They tried several sim cards and resets, etc. It finally activated. I wanted them to get another phone from the back but they kept saying it wasn't the phone. Then it took forever to load the gmail account. I hope this isn't a sign for things to come! :frown:

Got my Nexxus today. I was a little disappointed when I looked at the phone. There are several nice things on the Samsung Charge that this phone doesn't have :frown:

Overall the look of the screens and button locations are nicer on the Charge. Font, size, graphic design. Especially the app screen. The Charge had nice big icon boxes. It looked cool.
On the Nexxus there are lots of mini apps on one screen and so they are smaller. The icons are not as attractively designed and they aren't in uniform square boxes :frown::frown::frown: Not as cool

I have trouble finding the apps screen and the settings key is not on the front like Charge ... you have to click two menu items to get into it. This phone is not that intuitive.

On the calendar and anywhere you input information the Charge's input screens looked better... you typed in boxes. The nexxus has a line you are filling out, not a box.

No cradle dock yet for the Nexxus, and when they do get one it won't come with a free spare battery like Charge's did and it will sit on it vertically instead of horizontally because the charger opening is on the bottom instead of the side.

Since it is a google phone it can't use any Verizon apps like My Verizon, Verizon videos or VZ Navigator

If I had known all this I would have kept the Charge I returned end of October in anticipation of waiting for a supposedly better phone.

But after waiting for it for a month and a half I couldn't buy another Charge, seemed stupid.

At least my verizon store is having a class soon dedicated just to the Nexxus. All other phones were generic droid classes.

The camera is great so far (quality wise), but can I press a button on the actual phone? I don't like clicking the screen, I shake that way.

This phone is going to need some getting used to.

This is what I noticed so far, will give more updates as I find them.

I charged the phone and accessories to my account. Per my rep, they now have an up to $400 charge limit, depending on time with Verizon, history, and other factors.

Agree, it is like a Corvette engine in a Kia body - RAZR in a couple of months with the upgrade may actually be the ticket.

Checkin in =P. I wouldn't even let the rep open the box. I wanted to activate my new toy in the privacy of my home where I could really enjoy it without shame

Well everybody been up since 6am and its about to hit midnight here, calling it a night, a successful one. To those of you who picked up a nexus, thank goodness the wait is over right? Haven't heard any regrets about the purchase except for one or two posts. Hope you all are enjoying the phone as much as I have today (had to do 3 full charges:p) now that we all have our long awaited nexus we can sleep easy tonight. Was a long and stressful wait but well worth it I hope. Now I'll slowly doze off while my nexus goes for another full charge LOL

Oh yeah... "I got my galaxy nexus!"

Anyone know how I can turn on vibrate? The ringer volume seems to go directly to silent/without a vibrate option.

Open up Settings->Sound->Vibrate and you'll have different options to choose from.

There's also a cool app you can try out called Volume Control+ (free in the android market)

Not sure if this was addressed yet. But has anyone tried setting up their "corporate" email account?? It has all these crazy restrictions:Factory Reset, Disable camera, etc... Help...

Those restrictions are set by your IT department. Mine just told me that some setting had to be overridden and I hit ok w/o even looking at them.
