Are you kidding me? Here's my story if anyone cares. I live in Casper Wyoming, and I live outside of the town. For the last 5 years, I have been desperately needing internet. I can't get Cable, DSL, you name it. The only thing I can get: Satellite internet. The local company only works half the year(In the winter their towers "Magically" stop working), And the other option is Hughes Net. I'm currently on Hughes Net, Which I pay a RIDICULOUS amount of money for. All that money for internet that is about the same as verizons 1x. Oh, thats at stop speeds by the way. When I go over my daily limit (1.2Gigs), It maxes out at maybe 10Kb/s. Why does this make me mad? Recently Ive been using my Droid x2 to use 3g tether. Going over 5gb a month, by using it for school work, and other things, I have been under "Network Optimization" for the last few months. What makes no sense? The 3g tower I connect to is about 3 miles further away from me. Away from the town. It is possible I am the only one using over 1Gb a month on this tower. "Network Optimization" occurs when you are in the top 5% of users on A SPECIFIC CELL TOWER. Hmm.. Isnt that odd? Now, because the tower is magically congested 24/7, I am unable to use my 3g at ALL. Getting max download speeds of maybe 5Kb/s If i'm lucky. So, Just today I was notified that Verizon placed the first 4g tower in Sheridan, Wyoming. What?? Sheridan, Wyoming? Yep. They chose a town with not even 18,000 people, over the biggest towns in Wyoming. For the last year, Ive been awaiting 4g service here in Casper. But now without Unlimited Data for 4g, What use is it? I guess here is Verizons message to everyone: Thank you everyone for using our 3g service for the last few years. Especially those of you who have been under Network Optimization. And now, for our most recent upgrade, we are going to spend millions/billions of dollars on our new 4g Lte service. But wait, We are also going to be forcing you all who rely on our service to purchase a limited data plan so we can take your money! In other words, we are going to be removing our $30 all you can eat buffet, and replace it with $80 for 10 plates of food. Oh, and every other plate of food will cost you extra money! Enjoy! Love, Verizon. :hail:
