[Updated] Verizon To Officially Reveal Tiered Data Plans July 7th; Plans Leaked Below

that $47 is for a non contract phone? my d1 has officially gone crazy and i wanted something to hold me over till the bionic without wasting my upgrade...and plus does that mean free tethering if i use that phone?

Correction...it's $48 and some change for a Palm Pixi no contract Verizon (CDMA) smartphone. According to the pervious poster, you get 5GB per month tethering with this Palm. Can anyone provide some more information on this?

Seems like too good a deal to pass up. As far as tethering when VZW was trying to get the Palm Pres and Palm Pixis sold, they offered free tethering upto 5GB each month with those devices. So I assume if you purchase the phone, that would still apply, but only VZW would be able to tell you for sure.

Yeah, I'm due for an upgrade in late August so this will be able to hold me over until the BIONIC comes out.

Hey guys this has been very helpful in my decisions. I have some questions about the best way to do this as I really want to get the bionic.

Right now I have no wireless plan with Verizon.

I was wondering if I could buy a used 3g smartphone and then activate that phone onto a plan with no contract. Then when the Droid Bionic comes out I would buy that with upgrade pricing and renew my plan with a 2 year agreement and live happily ever after. Is this something that I could do?

That would work. As long as the used smartphone is

1. A Verizon-branded smartphone, AND

2. Has a clean ESN/MEID (isn't blocked by Verizon for an outstanding balance or has been lost/stolen)

It was for a limited time. When it came out for vzw I went to a corporate store and asked about it and I was told it was free for a few months.

ah ok thanks for the clarification!

Thought you folks might like to know that my I ordered a Blackberry Curve for my daughter today and upgraded her to unlimited data from the low end usage pricing. She and my mother are the only ones on our plan that didn't have it.

My verizon invoice shows one Blackberry smartphone, and one unlimited data package. Of course, customer service is closed right now (24/7 service that stops answering the phone at 11 p.m.? ), so I can't get total confirmation, but it appears as if the Blackberry will be enough to keep the unlimited on her line. I sure as heck hope so.

What did she do to deserve a blackberry? Whatever it was, it couldn't have been that bad. Forgive her, and go trade that in for a droid.

Jk.

I was required to change my data plan to a Blackberry Unlimited plan when I activated my Palm Pixi. What does this mean for my unlimited wireless when I get a Droid in late August?

Jk.

It was the only one she could get free. She is a full time college student working part time. Free rides end at my house at 18. I provide room and board until they graduate. I don't provide toys. They pay their part of the bill too.

sorry if this has been asked already but i have currently have the $15 data plan that was discontinued a few months ago and i was wondering if i will be forced to change my plan or if I could keep this plan. As far as I know I only have to change it when/if i change my device.

I plan on switching to a droid soon and will need a new data plan but i do not know if i should do it before or after the updated plans since i dont use that much data to begin with

lastly is there any information regarding a family data plan?

every single one of these questions has been answered multiple times

1. you will keep your 15 dollar plan until you move to another device
2. if you're going to get a droid, do it now. you'll be paying the same for unlimited now as you will be for 2gb after 7/7
3. while family data plans have been hinted at, it doesn't seem like its happening 7/7

Well so much for Verizon being tops in my book. These damn cell companies need some regulation . As it stands right now these crooks can do whatever they want and the only ones getting screwed are the end user. I have been dealing with years of terrible cell service and had to live with it . There is nothing telling these crooks that they need to provide a quality product at a fair price now they are going to start charging that much . Guess the convenience of cell phones is going to fall by the wayside when people start gettin rid of them and going back to landlines. I figure I will be paying over a hundred a month going off of my usage rt now just for data . This will bring my monthly bill to almost 400 . GOODBYE VERIZON!!! F***in thieves
