VZW disabling tethering apps from market

I don't think it's that. Your statement at least has at least a hint of "I know it's technically against the rules but everybody does it and gets away with it." I think it's the complete delusional justification of unauthorized tethering that riles up the anti-tethering crowd. LOL

Bingo. Complete delusional justification is the perfect way to put it lol

Seriously. If they said, "I know it's against the TOS but I don't care", there wouldn't be much anyone can say about it!

My personal favorite is the good old "Unlimited is unlimited data" and they never told me that I couldn't tether before I signed the agreement defense. I think the Chewbacca defense from South Park makes more sense. LOL

I agree. I'd give far more credit to those who admit that they know what they're doing is wrong and they dont care and will take responsibility for it if they get caught. The buffet analogies and data is data arguments are ridiculous.

The analogies, especially the chinese buffet, are absolutely my favorite!! LOL

Personally, I don't care if people tethered occasionally when their home internet is out or some other emergency purpose when they need to get online. It's the people who abuse this and use it as their home broadband replacement that ruins it for the everybody.

Since I love analogies, I am going to use one here. It's like if you work in an office that gives free sodas to employees and say some of those employees start taking those sodas home, don't be surprised when there are no more free sodas.

If VRZ was actually going to utilize packet sniffing to identify nefarious tethering, it would it be possible to circumnavigate detection by running android on their tethered PC/lappy, right?

I managed a department inside a large season retail shop for 5 years, the owners treated their employees like crap. ultra low pay, no benes, they withheld industry perks that were designed for the employees use only and sold them instead, the list goes on and on.....

....and then they lamented at why the employees were either robbing them blind or letting their friends do the same.

The next place I worked treated everyone with respect, paid fair wages, with benes and rewarded everyone for the work they did.
...we had zero theft and even had some employees catch some shoplifters.

Except if the first company made you sign an agreement that said "We're going to treat you like crap. Do you agree?" And then you do agree, and still rob them blind, I wouldn't blame the company.

I'm sure when the employees explain how they were treated like crap by the company and that's what drove them to steal, the police will drop the charges.

P.S. This is why I love analogies!! LOL

the first gig had a verbal contract, over the phone, where they stated all the free soda you can carry out the door each month...

...they also were very clear about providing working tools and cash registers that would be quickly replaced with top quality, carefully certified refurbs, instead of the 4 replacements that came used and broken right after start of the season.

k guys gotta go...
my DX batt is dying, so i gotta turn off the android lappy im tethering right now and jay-walk across the street to get my charger out of the vette.
