I wish I was able to fit in a mach 1... I've tried. Didn't work.
Them old cars are quite a bit smaller than current models. I almost bought a 65 convertible, until I test drove it and the windshield frame was at eye level. 0.o
A 70 Mach 1 is a nice project. I'm working on getting the most out of my 05 V6, but hoping soon to get another 73 coupe. Had one when I was 19 and loved it.

So my rearend parts came in... as did my block, piston kit, and the rest of the internals for my atmospheric LT1... twin turbos.... or a single big turbo... that's the question... and making room for a big intercooler...

My dad and I really lucked out on it, a guy down the road from the shop we work at had a '70 Mach 1 and a '68 Cougar (390) sitting in his yard under a little prefab garage and decided to sell. lol So we lucked into 2 cars for dirt cheap.
Of course the Mach 1 is little more then a rolling shell though, the previous owner blew the 351 with Nitrous while drag racing and it seized up the tranny too. Needless to say its gonna be a big project, but I have high hopes for it.

I wish I had an old muscle car. I just put a '79 355 (bored .030 over) in my silverado. Has given me nothing but headaches since I've had it, but it's my first vehicle. We have a love/hate relationship. It loves to give me hell and I hate it for that. But, I've got some ponies to play with and now I'm waiting for the exhaust to get put on. Got heddman hedders going into two "turbos" (knockoff glasspacks). True duals. Sounds like a beast. But I have some wiring to redo. (Fun) oh, and I would go with the twin turbos. Have one on each side, compact, and will produce more power than just a big, single (with the proper components).
Edit: forgot to mention I have a '91 SWB with a 5 speed floor shift. Standard everything. I also need a new rearend.

See your problem is A) the 355, and B) its in a Chevy. I suggest getting a Foxbody Mustang and going to town with it. I had an 89 GT and would love to have that car back. But I think in the end, if I get the chance I want another 71-73 Mustang. I had a 73 and fell in love with the body style.
