ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

I think Flash only shows up if you either have a hacked Market app in a ROM or if you already have it installed.

It's useful for watching some videos on sites other than YouTube, but other than that, well, even overclocked at 1.1Ghz it doesn't do well at that or on other things. Sure does make those banner ads purdy, though... When I accidentally hit them since I have plugins set at on-demand rather than always. :)

okay just asking if i read all this wrong, but if you have the previous update (2.2 official) already installed(as in the manual update without root), will you be able to get the new update? or do i have to RE sbf it again? ive already done it twice within the last month and i do not wish to do it again >.<

If you have issues with your install, yes. Or you could use Easy Root and then try flashing this since this update seems to like re-virgining your install.

If you have no issues with your install then you're set. It's the same thing, in the end, just a different package and install method.

sooooo your saying ill still get the OTA? xD

From what I read, if you manually installed last weeks update, the you will need to be rooted in order for this new "clean install" version to install on your phone. Otherwise the update will fail, as it is techically already installed.

You won't receive an "Over the Air" notification is you've already manually installed 2.2.

Has anyone whose installed the full package version of FRG01b tried the mail app with an exchange server? I connect to exchange for work and it would be crappy for me if it didn't funtion properly. I heard there were some issued with the FRG01b release last week....

Here is a quick step by step from one newbie to the rest. Its a copy paste of multiple posts.

1. Root phone using any of the root methods. (I used the pay Easy Root App. $1 is totally worth it.)
2. Download the updated version file. (Pick the one you want. I used the Op's 2.2)
3. Rename file to update.zip
4. Download the file to the sd card
5. Restart the phone by pressing power and x at same time.
6. After you get the yellow triangle, hit the volume up and camera button at the same time
7. Use the d-pad to navigate to the “apply: update.zip” option, and choose the file you just dragged onto your microSD card.
8. When done, choose Reboot system.
9 Verify everything is working.
10. Reroot, if you choose. (I did.)
(Optional) Do a battery pull for good measure.

You will have to root your phone if you want to use the "clean install" version. Follow the directions above posted by thehirsches if you want to do it. If you are not having any problems, then I hear there is no point in running this "clean install" version since its suppose to be the same file. I've not installed either at this point, but as long as it doesn't break exchange, I will!

then how will i get it? D:
You already have it. This file is the exact same thing as was previously released, just in a different package.

It's like getting a pint of droid-flavored frozen yogurt at the local convenience store and getting it home only to see the significant other had beat you home and had brought a gallon-sized container of droid-flavored frozen yogurt made by the same company. It's the same thing, it's just in a different wrapper.

So, thoughts on the new install method in this update? I'm thinking that Motorola and Verizon learned the hard way what those of us who rooted have known for months -- you have to WIPE before you install FroYo on an Eclair build.

Just saying.

Liking it so far. Seems pretty snappy and responsive.

I get a horrible signal at my house, so a better test will be tonight when I go out.

Now I am confused again; on page 14 it says:
1. I do not want to root my Droid

2. I do not want to install some file which I am told to use at my own risk.

3. What---if any of you know---is the status of the plain, old, OTA from Verizon? Is it on or off? Is John L Galt the only person in the country to get it? Ever? Why him?

1. you dont have to

2. the file in this thread is completely legit and installing the update is cake

3. you dont need the ota if you do this manually....

So which is it?
