ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

Has anyone whose installed the full package version of FRG01b tried the mail app with an exchange server? I connect to exchange for work and it would be crappy for me if it didn't funtion properly. I heard there were some issued with the FRG01b release last week....

I ran the FRG22 install when it hit the airwaves. This morning I ran the Full Install FRG01B that JRummy manipulated. I had no issues connecting to my exchange server. Calendar and mail both worked flawlessly.

Why'd I go backwards? Because I can.

Nate
THanks for the reply nateccnn. I've been super tempted to manually install FRG01b. I've got it sitting on my card as I type calling out to me. I just don't want any issues by installing an "eary" build. But from what I read, this is the final, at least for now.

Quick question for you love bunnies.

I'm using my Droid X (non rooted), and I'm using AndroZip. I'm moving the 'update.zip' to the root of my sd card. obviously there isn't a "Root" folder on the sd card unlike the phone files. My Droid X won't let me use the update I downloaded...Now so I don't feel weetawded..in order to get to the root boot, on the x, you have to hold the power button and the home buttom aka the house, when you start your phone? Correct??

I remember doing this back in the day on my Droid, but on the X it won't let me...gives me an error boot. It's bullll shieet.

Anyone update on the DX???
Droid 1 only, same as it's been since the first update was launched.

As for feeling like a weetawd, well, that's up to you. :)

I installed the manual update of FRG01B (patch) last week. I saw this thread today and downloaded the "clean full" FRG01B. I had read that it would not install if I had already installed last weeks patch. I went ahead and tried it anyway and it seemed to work fine. I didn't get any error messages and it said install complete.

I've only been playing with it for a few minutes, but it seems to be smoother and I don't have the screen refresh issue when closing an app anymore.

Sorry for these questions, but didn't see an answer.

I force updated my stock phone to the 2.2 update [the patch]

I would like to revert to 2.1, then flash with the full rom files 2.2... I use RSD Lite following these directions The Guide to All Things Root Related - Android Forums

1) Would my phone be considered to have been rooted after this?
2) After rolling back to 2.1, I see you have to activate the phone again. Would I activate the phone, then flash to 2.2? Or would I have to activate it twice? Or??

Unless you're flashing in SPRecovery, you're fine using RSDLite to push a stock SBF to your phone. You'll need to activate your phone and then apply the update. After the update you might have to activate again.

Don't worry about what VZW might think at that point because all you have to say is you did a factory reset because of some issues and you thought it might help if they even ask, which they most likely won't.
Thank you very much for the help!

I had installed the same thing last week on my wife's Droid. Then today, after reading that applying root would allow this new on to install over it, I rooted it for her. Then I decided I would install the one Jrummy had modified instead. But when I went to install, it failed. I was under the impression that it would install with stock recovery.

LOL Damn it! Yeah, I didn't check out any of the prior updates, because it usually changes like I thought. So...with the new news on the main page, it didn't clarify and single phone. Thennnn I started looking around and found out it was for D1 only....then i slaped my forehead in shame..lmfao :icon_eek:

I wouldn't feel right if I didn't say anything. I realize a lot of people are putting their blessing on this as the official and I'm running it myself. However according to an admin in this forum, this isn't the real deal.

What I'm hearing is that Motorola and Adobe had an issue and that's what stopped the first update. Adobe wanted Flash to be included in Froyo. And from what I understand this has happened.

So if what I'm hearing is correct, the real update will go out with Flash preinstalled.

Only time will tell. And I might as well throw this in hear too, I'm hearing the OTA's could start as early as tomorrow.

All of this may not be true, but how come only 1 person has received the OTA? I don't know this person, but I understand that he has a great reputation and he has nothing to gain in lying so I'm not accusing him of any deception. But wouldn't more people come forward saying they received it? Unless I missed it I haven't seen anyone report that they received it today.

I'll just feel better about all of this if someone else reports receiving the OTA.

If anyone else, just one person can confirm they have received this OTA then I'll consider it bad information and delete this post. But I think it's only fair that I let you know what I'm hearing.

I didn't root. I just put the new update.zip on my SD card and rebooted holding down the x. I then selected install update.zip and it worked.

I've been playing with it some more and I noticed my pictures in the gallery are loading much faster. I used to get a bunch of gray boxes and then the picture would eventually show up. Now they are there immediately.

I downloaded easyroot.

I downloaded the new update.zip and put it on the phone.

I rooted.

Now pressing x and holding power does nothing but bring up the power options.

I have no idea what to do next.

Well I just update my phone everything is working. Seems much faster. The only thing is my swype is not working at all. I even reinstalled it by using the email the sent to me a few months ago when it WA updated. I sent them a email hopeing they will send me version that world...

did you power off the phone first? Sorry not trying to ask a dumb question, just starting with the basics.

FRG01B does not like SPReocovery

Hi Guys,

I posted this in another thread and it go lost so I am replying here with my issue with the OTA update (mods, I closed the other thread).

FRG01B appears to impact the ability to load SPRecovery and then root.

First off, been rooted since I got my phone in December. Have loaded ROM after ROM, used RSDlite to get out of trouble, and created my own custom "roms" (just for me). I am posting this as an issue/observation and not one of those "crap, I bricked my phone and need your help ASAP"...

Up until today I was running the most recent leak to 2.2 (FRG22) and had root and SPRecovery already include in the leak. Today I decided to download the new OTA leak (FRG01B) and noticed a couple of things. I fully understand that the new leak is not rooted nor does it have SPRecovery. I was planning on doing that myself once I had the stock ROM installed.

1. The stock recovery has changed since the 2.1 days. It now has an option to "wipe baseband data". Not sure what this is or what it does but it is odd to me since I never noticed it before.

2. Worse, the phone appears not to play nicely with SPRecovery. To install the new leak, I flashed back to 2.0 using an SBF I had saved from a while back. I then loaded the new leaked OTA update.zip and booted up fine, got to the activation screen, and signed into Google without issue. Then I decided to put SPRecovery on so I could root this version. After installing SPRecovery via another SBF file I had from long ago, I got the red battery issue that other posts have referenced and the phone would shut off. I noticed it said "Android System" in the notification bar before it rebooted.

The OTA update to 2.2 works great stock but I really like having recovery and root and will try everything to get it back. Worst case I can flash back to an older SBF and start over and reload the previous leak of 2.2 that I have a nandroid backup for.

I am going to play around with this to see if I can figure something out but do you think VZW/MOTO are locking down our Droid 1's with this new OTA update?

Thanks!
Ned
