I'm hopefully getting my new Droid today, and if I do, I have to go to the Verizon store to activate it and get my contacts switched over.
While there, I'm going to ask them about switching me to Froyo (the website states they can do Software Upgrading, so I hope they can do this).
I will keep everyone updated on this, because if they can, hopefully I can help those out who have a store nearby that can do the same
UPDATE: So I received my phone today and got it all set up at the store... the wonderful man helping me said that they themselves cannot put Froyo on the phones, they can try and force it, but that's all. Unfortunately, he couldn't force it on mine, but he said to keep an eye out for the next couple of days.
ALSO, he said that newer Droids will eventually ship out with 2.2 on them instead of 2.1... I believe it'll be once all the updates are completed.
Since the Droid isn't being sold anymore I'm sure he was talking about the Droid 2, which does come with 2.2 already loaded.
