ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

I'm hopefully getting my new Droid today, and if I do, I have to go to the Verizon store to activate it and get my contacts switched over.
While there, I'm going to ask them about switching me to Froyo (the website states they can do Software Upgrading, so I hope they can do this).

I will keep everyone updated on this, because if they can, hopefully I can help those out who have a store nearby that can do the same :)

UPDATE: So I received my phone today and got it all set up at the store... the wonderful man helping me said that they themselves cannot put Froyo on the phones, they can try and force it, but that's all. Unfortunately, he couldn't force it on mine, but he said to keep an eye out for the next couple of days.

ALSO, he said that newer Droids will eventually ship out with 2.2 on them instead of 2.1... I believe it'll be once all the updates are completed.

Since the Droid isn't being sold anymore I'm sure he was talking about the Droid 2, which does come with 2.2 already loaded.

I was talking about Motorola Droid, and the comment are accurate. I work in Customer Service, we review work prior to sending out to clients. I expect the same of Motorola. The update isn't great if they don't check all of the details. From your view point, if this was a car, if the radio comes on but you can't see whats playing unless you stop the car and push turn the key on again, so your able to see the screen, I guess your okay with that. Not having all of the features work is okay for you, when they used to work. Hmm...

It's a mandatory update. If you don't want the update, then root.

For all the things it brings with the it 2.2 is the best update to hit the Droid yet. But you can always count on someone out there to find things to complain about.

Don't believe everything you read when it comes to negative comments about 2.2. It is a wonderful update.

Well it's NOT that good, it completely DESTROYED AND UNLOADED the calendar !!!
Screw Verizon!!

Verizon had nothing to do with this, if you want to get mad at somebody get mat at Motorola and Google.

They merged the corporate calendar with the regular calendar. Apparently more people thought that was a good idea. Obviously you do not.

Yeah, well the piece of CRAP software also unloaded the Camera.....
No Calendar..
No Camera...
What the hell am I going to find missing next??????

I think that your problem was already discussed earlier in the thread and a work around was given to you for it.

For me since I don't use the Droid that way it's not an issue. And certainly since there is a work around the benefits out weight some what I would consider minor issues.

Nobody is going to be completely happy with any update. And some are going to be more displeased then happy. Me, I'm quite happy with it. Been running it for about 4 weeks now. I like having voice dialing back. I like the fact that even the basic froyo is faster, that you can now install apps on the SD card. Sorry you don't seem to see the benefits.

Funny, took a picture of my cats just the day before yesterday in a low light situation and it came out just fine. Emailed them off to my wife, no problems. Perhaps you're having some additional issues due to some other reason.

At this moment are you rooted? If you are, then go here and see if this won't get you where you want to be.

tried that didnt work. got a failed to verify whole-file signature, signature verification failed, installation aborted. would i have to go back to 2.01 then do this?

Actually, the Droid IS still being sold. All 3 stores in my area still sell it, and it has not been removed from the displays. He was referring to the Droid 1.

Right, that's why I asked if you were rooted. It won't work unless you're rooted. I'm afraid you're going to have to go back to 2.0.1. I just checked with the Rescue Squad and that's what they are recommending.

But keep that link in mind. Once you're rooted you can have a signed copy of 2.2 installed on your Droid.

Well, many of us seem to be having no problems with our phones. It may be yours.

If you're so unhappy, return the phone. Complaining here won't solve anything, but asking for help will. I know there's many people who would be willing to help you out here.

As for the application blending, there's not much you can do. Go to Verizon about the Camera app. For the calenders, you'll just have to re-do them, there's not much choice there.
