ALERT! 2.2 FroYo Circus continues...FRG01B is Official get it here.

I'm seriously tired of waiting too. My gf got her update, and my dad, who's family plan I'm on, who's phones we got at exactly the same time, who's number is only 1 digit away from mine..... got his!!

I'm ready to install this thing myself as well. Is it safe? I heard some people were having problems with it earlier. Are those problems people have even when they receive the update like normal?

Well they said it was a random roll out...I think for the most part there have been a few minor problems. I did the update manually by the way, I also got tired of waiting. I had no problems.

Just as info I received my update notice between 800 and 900 am edt today. This surprised me because I would have thought vzw would have utilized off peak times. Everything is working well.

OTA-pushed updates have a higher incidence of problems. Manually installed OTA-files have had a higher incidence of lag. Manually installed large-update files (from the OP) have cured both problems and had the fewest problems overall.

Bricked phones are being replaced by Verizon, sometimes while giving you a nice paperweight to keep for your very own. I'm collecting them, but nobody's sharing!:rofl3:

I went with the large file install (based on your recommendation) a couple of days ago and it seems to be working fine. The camera app was missing from its Apps Organizer folder, but it was easy to put it back there. Oh yeah, and I had to reinstall Swype.

At the moment the oddest thing is the News and Weather widget very often says, "Sorry, news not currently available." We live in a valley with spotty 3G service and we have no Wifi at home so it may work more when I leave the area.

I'm playing around with this 2.2 as I can here at work and just found maybe I do have a problem after all. When I do a voice command like "call (put a name here)", it opens the internet search. My friend says on his it goes to the phone and does what it is supposed to do. I don't see in any setting where you can tell it where to search. Any ideas?

That is old news. It was restarted a week or so ago.

well that person said that yesterday, so I had figured he meant that he checked today and they told him that. I never thought he would be talking about that old of news because people had mentioned getting their OTA on that page. I guess I could always check myself to.

have you installed the new Voice Search from the market?

Go ahead and download it if not. It's the newest version and works extremely well.

Agreed, and also make sure under settings/accounts & sync that you have are syncing contacts from your google account.

Everyone who hasn't, get the new Voice Search from the market! It's almost OMG! now I need new shorts! good.

Almost. No dancing banana or anything, but it's good.

:icon_ banana:

Oh, wait, there one is. Now to get it on my phone when I do a voice search...

I thought I understood this but the more I read,... not so sure now.

If I have 2.1 non rooted stock and I install the OP's file, I get non rooted 2.2 stock.

I thought that If I installed Jrummy16's update i would get a rooted 2.2.

Now. I think that I need a rooted 2.1 to be able to install Jrummy16's update
and to install the rooted 2.2 file I would first have to root my stock 2.1

Is that correct?

Len

In order to install JRummy or Pete's or any other rooted update/ROM, you need a rooted phone or an alternate recovery image (which means you're rooted anyway)/

Could someone please point me to the direction of the larger file, I am tired of waiting and am doing the manual update.
Thanks
