Ok, dumb n00b question(s), I'm on .230 running Safestrap with AXIOMIC Beam 1 on the safe side, looking through all the posts in preparation for flashing .232, I notice I don't have an option for MTP mode, just to turn on USB storage, am I missing something here? Should I bring up the unsafe side before I run the script? Should I just uninstall recovery and then run the script? Normally I would just flash away but I did lose my data last week despite the fine efforts of the highly esteemed Samuri's script and was sort of hoping to avoid that. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Cheers

I don't have experience with safe strap at all. Zero. But I can tell you that having it installed can screw things up. Some people have said even a full FXZ didn't fully fix it for them but I find that one hard to believe. However since I don't wipe user data, who knows if there's anything in there that could cause issues. I don't know. I do know you're going to lose safe strap once you flash back to 902. The updates simply will NOT flash with safe strap installed.

As for MTP, if you pull down the notifications while USB is connected and click on the USB mode one, there should be 3 options....pc mode, media mode, and camera mode. Or something like that. You want media device (MTP).

Just checked, the only option I have is for USB storage. I'm booting back to the unsafe mode just to check to see if the options exist there. It was strange, when I ran your fine script (right after the .230 leak came out), everything seemed to work great until the reboot after installing .905 and .230 updates and then the system just hung at the red M.

Update - just booted into unsafe and the three options are there so maybe it's time to disable SS for the moment and then see how the script runs.

Wheeeee!!!!

Sadly a good bet is probably having safe strap installed is what caused that. But I don't know much about it. If possible, I'd remove it to do the update and then put it back. Not a clue what that entails.

neither do I, but I'll give it a shot tonight after I get home and post the results tomorrow. I do like SS, it will let you switch between different ROMS without fear of mucking things up too much but I have heard it does mess with trying to update.

Tks

Yea, I really haven't gotten into ROMS on the bionic yet. Quite frankly I haven't really needed to. The phone works, I've been able to freeze stupid crap from VZW, and I customize the hell out of my Xoom to my liking so it's all good. I can honestly say my next phone is not likely to be with a locked bootloader. Take heed, VZW, cause that nonsense with the S3 could be the final straw. I really don't wanna switch carriers but seriously.....locked bootloaders suck.

I am running black ics on my xoom. What have you been running.

Team EOS wih Apex launcher. I've been using Team EOS since January. I've never factory wiped it which is why I wrote the script for the bionic cause I knew what ICS is capable of with the right setup. The trick is to not touch the ICS data and nuke the cache.

Oh, SamuriHL - Just wanted to say again, thank you very much for all your help yesterday. Got me from 229-232 and my phone is running much better. Battery life is excellent, running at 1.2 GHz, rooted and everything. Oh, I recall reading somewhere about speculation about launch Bionics vs newer ones for the 1.2 GHz deal. Mine is a launch day phone and it clocked at 1.2 without messing with any settings. :)

I'm still at 1GHz.

Just did the upgrade. All saved and all works great. dancedroid

Many thanks for all your work on this. I as well as many others are very gratefull.

Only bummer is as others have said speed is only 1.0 ghz but was counting on it anyway.

Again thanks a lot.......

Quick question fo reither Samuri or Fib, is the new Samuri house of bionic w/232 zip the entire folder redone? Can I just delete the whole folder from the 230 zip and DL the new zip to my laptop?
