Downgrade to 902 - No app or data loss

Guys and gals, I'm going to supremely warn you now...if you do 235 you WILL be stuck there unless you wanna try an incredibly painful exercise in frustration that is almost guaranteed to fail. Without a 905 FXZ going forward is incredibly difficult. Going back is impossible. I personally am avoiding more leaks until the OTA is released. Take this as my friendly warning. Given my experiences with this kind of thing, you may want to listen. ;)

I remember your experiences well, lots of us shared similar anguish and rejoiced when the community came together to help us out! dancedroid

Thanks for all you've done! :)

Excellent decision. From what we can see, 235 is not significantly different from 232 except being locked down and including some updated videos. WOOOOO. :D

Adding my Kudos to SamuriHL, Sargentmajord and others for all your assistance in helping yahoos like myself through the twists and turns of getting into ICS .232. In my case the process was complicated by having residuals of a previously-installed SafeStrap. The process is so simple, if everything is normal....but can be so hard when little things act up. [FONT=Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif]I even had issues re-rooting but finally succeeded today using a fresh copy of RaozorsEdge.

This community is why Android phones have become so popular. :hail::hail::hail::hail:

235 contained updated security code (V4) that prohibits FXZing back to lower updates. If you load 235, you can move forward to future updates only at this point. No way back to GB yet.

No way back to GB from 235+ ever. However I was able to get us a copy of the 905 FXZ thanks to a very generous person so we now have a tool to use to move forward to new leaks should they arrive. Mattigroff should be thanked for this method. The system and preinstall partitions are flashed from 905. This will not allow you to boot 905, but it does set you up to install an update that requires it. Before flashing the update, however, you must be on the boot img of said update. You can either wait for someone to post it or search xda to learn how to make your own from the new update. That's right, I said make your own boot img. :) while this process works... John Galt un bricked his bionic using this method, there is still risk because once you install 235+ there is no fxz to save us. This includes updating to the ota... Frank up your phone even then and you'll be waiting til an ICS fxz is released.

Those using my script can update to the 905 FXZ and skip the 905 update. It makes the process safer and faster as it only requires the ics update you're trying to install. For those on 232 waiting for the ota, this will work perfectly to get us there one last time with no data loss. I'm on my Xoom but links to the 905 FXZ are on droid hive and probably xda by now. I'll post it later with exact instructions on how we make use of it.

Hello. :) As you may have noticed, I've updated the OP and made things a lot simpler for people. However, I need someone to test it because I don't have time. I wrote the new changes blind so there could be problems. And I changed a lot in the script so that I could package it and attach it to the OP. You will need the 905 FXZ (link to a thread that has links in the OP) and the attached file. And you will need to add whatever ICS update you want into the updates directory. Note that I moved a lot of structural files around so you don't want to try to overwrite an existing HouseOfBionic dir as you'll end up with a mess. I moved moto-fastboot and adb files into a utils dir and add it to beginning of the path. And I removed them from the razr's edge dir. This is what allowed me to compress it to a size that fits on the forum. :) And again, this is COMPLETELY UNTESTED so I need a volunteer. My advice is to use it on 232 just to test it.

One last thing...READ MY BIG FREAKING WARNING. If you use this on 235 or higher, it will be the last time you can use my script.

Master Samuri,

Thanks for all the stuff you've done, the last version of the script (.232 NAY .235) worked great. It's great to see someone with convictions who will actually act on them! Unfortunately, I'm pretty much stuck with the Bionic since I just did my upgrade and I don't think I will get a "subsidised" phone next time anyway since from what I'm reading, that would cost me my unlimited data. So, I'll just wait for the latest and greatest to become the not so latest but still pretty darn good and get one then!

Thanks again (especially for the warning on .235!).

Sweet thanks for testing that for me. I'm glad it worked. And yea, I am getting an unsubsidized phone for similar reasons. I don't wanna lose unlimited and it's the only way to get an unlockable phone. Win win? Kinda I guess. :)

I was on 230 ICS and wanted to go to 232. Running latest script but getting
sending 'system' (154178 KB)... OKAY [ 22.589s]
writing 'system'... INFOPreflash validation failure
I'm using the 905 FXZ with no data loss xml. I tried twice but get error with system and cdrom.
Boot failed. Anything I can try or RSD only hope?
