Build number, rom version etc are put in there by Sapphire not the theme. Purely cosmetic? No, there are a few items which look at this, but for the most part, yes it's just there as a fact so you know what you are running.

so everyone has the testkeys #333333 stuff in there? and rom/mod unknown? i could have sworn it was different earlier...but i might have been dreaming.

also, got my pics back by unmounting/mounting SD card. not sure what happened there, i think it was just too much plugging/unplugging into the computer applying the different update.zips. everything seems fine now with the black bar theme.

No I don't have the test keys and such.
 
Weird that's what miner says and I think it only appears after I loaded the black bar theme from the wiki page. Is that an old link or version perhaps?
 
If I may.. what is the wallpaper in the screenshots for 8.4?

Also, for error 7 issues try downgrading CWM to 2.0.1.3 I found that somewhere and it certainly resolved the Error 7

No, my Build Number is FRF84B. I'm using 928Droid "Black Glass" 2.2.Sapphire.0.8.4."b" Theme. If that makes a difference to you.

right. like i said, i haven't verified what it said before i loaded the black bar theme, but i basically just installed sapphire and then the black bar theme. it was a fresh install. either way, i'm not too worried, i think it's just cosmetic, the rom is the best one i've ever used!
 
Yep. Google goggles is broken in 0.8.4. Also broken, the official Verizon app. I only used it to pay my bill, but still. It gives me some kind of MDS error or something.

google goggles installs ok, runs the tutorial, and then FCs when it tries to access the camera.

can you do me a favor and tell me what it says for your build number in settings>about phone?

what the heck would have changed my build.prop file?

Where are you getting the MDS error in the "My Verizon" app? I am using it no problem. I am running stock theme.
