[How-To] Force Motorola Droid 2.1 OTA Update (ESE81)

Thanks :)

whats your issue?

Not being able to download from the marketplace. I noticed my gmail wasnt pulling either, so I check my account and sync area and my google account was syncing properly which likely account for my inability to download apps. I factory wiped, tried it and tested the downloading, which now works, but i'm still in the process of restoring settings and application uing MyBackupPro. I'll then test again and see what happens. Good times...:icon_rolleyes:

Have fun with that! I lost alot of my apps too, most of them didnt get backed up and idk why. I am not having an issue downloading from the market though, i downloaded astro just now.

I see yahoo is now syncable like gmail, how do i do it for yahoo?

Thanks :)

i'm doing it right now! at my desk! benefits of being a network guy, i'm doing it at the same time as other stuff, and it looks like i'm doing what I normally do, lol.

Not sure about the yahoo thing, I haven't tried yet, I use K-9mail. Mayne setting a new account up will give you the options. Not sure. I only use the built in mail for my exchange account now.

Downloaded update direct to phone. Moved to root and followed the instructions from there. Took some time to get off the droid eye, but all seems to be ok. As for Yahoo, i would have rather seen them fix the BT voice dial problem.

Will this let us run google earth now?

Yes, you can, but you also could have downloaded the apk prior to this.

On a different note, can someone remind me how you get the green clock in the dock? I coulda sworn you have to long press somewhere. Been a long day I guess. :)

This site rocks!

Did the update... got the stare from the Driod eye for quite a while and thought I bricked the phone but all is well... now I'm getting update notices from all my apps:icon_eek:

So...I finally got mine to update through the force and having had rooted previously with 2.1, I have to say I like the unrooted version better. How do I go back?

Thanks :)

OK, after the factory reset, and restoration of apps and settings with MyBackupPro, and manually changing some apps back to the way I had them, I can confirm that doing a factory reset did fix my issue with not being able to download from the marketplace and not being able to sync with my google account. I'm finally up and running 100% with 2.1 update1:icon_ banana:
