Ics soak test has begun!!!!!!!!

I got the email last night and woke up today around 11am, went to "about phone" and "check for updates"

I got prompted to download the 246 update. After about 3.5 hours, it is still only about 60% compete. How friggin big is this update lol

I didn't get my Bionic until January.. I'll probably be one of the last to get it. How long does it normally take for everyone to get the update?

Takes up to a week for a full update cycle.

So the .zip is on the external SD card though. Wouldn't that fubar everything? I am an hour and a half in. 16GB card I believe, maybe 32GB. But I only had like 8gb of music.

My phone is a nice hand warmer now though. If only it was cold out.

Well, if your updating from the SD card, no you obviously can't pull it! Put if you pull it before doing an OTA update, the update should work fine. Not sure if those apps on the card would get the same treatment they would had they been there during the install, but my guess is you'd probably not notice a difference. Again my not so educated guess. I'm pretty new to ICS having just got my first ICS device a few weeks back.

Yea people have tried to figure out how they do it. It seems COMPLETELY random. Maybe Punit Soni sits in his office throwing darts at lists of phone numbers.

It'll massively break the gallery until you do a factory reset and do it all over again.

Thanks for the tip. Perhaps I'll just leave it. A factory reset is probably a good idea anyway, but I don't NEED to use this phone today as it's a secondary device when I'm north of the border. I've patiently waited this long, what's another 10 or 15 hours. :icon_rolleyes:

If it's like the other updates, it'll be random. So random that if you bought 2 the same day, one could get the update days after the other.

If you're charging through USB I don't think they charge correctly from completely dead. Try from an outlet.

Started DL'ing this morning (on Soak). Unfortunately installation just fails a minute or so in every time and reboots my phone with a basic installation failed error.

No frozen apps, from .905 (no issues with OTAs in the past), used SuperSU to unroot.

I'll hit up HoB when I get home tonight. Probably will have better luck.
