Ics soak test has begun!!!!!!!!

BAHAHHAHAHAHA

From my FAQ:

Q: I've finished the upgrade and now it's scanning my media files. How long does THAT take??
A: Ummm, how many you got? I can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 10+ hours. :) BEFORE doing the upgrade, if you have a lot of media, you may wish to move them temporarily til the upgrade is finished.

I made a thread about "what should I do to prep for the std OTA" coming. I guess temporarily removing most of your media before updating should be on the list. Even without HOB. Has anyone decided how much media or what types before it starts going over 1 hour?

It really should be part of the list, yes. And no, I have no idea how much is bad/good, etc. I don't have much on mine and it's under a couple minutes at most.

Nice ain't it? You can also force 2d acceleration in the options which gives you another speed boost at the risk of potentially having issues with apps that don't support it. I've not had any issues leaving it on. Also freeze the stupid bloatware by going into settings, apps, all apps. There's a disable option in there and you do NOT need to be rooted to do it. See my FAQ for more fun information.

Nice! This will be the first thing I do. Thanks for the tips!

If I'm running AOKP JB and 232's on the safe side, will anything change when I update the safeside to 246 and restore AOKP, or will it be exactly the same?

Depends on if it's forever rooted or not. Root itself isn't a problem. It's all the stupid stuff we do with root that causes issues.

I believe I used forever root, and all I rooted for was to use the mobile hotspot. Aside from that, I haven't really done much with root. Although if this update is the last we'll receive, I may research how you all freeze the bloatware. I hate getting the update notifications every day for Verizon loaded Apps that I'll never use.

Forever root will cause the update to fail. You gotta deal with that. Freezing apps is built in. My faq explains how. No need for root to do it, either.

Can the forever root be dealt with on a mac? I know, I know- why the heck did I get a mac? My girlfriend uses it for photo editing. Anyways, I no longer have a PC and know a lot of stuff won't play nice with mac. If not, can I simply download the file from HoB and run it directly from the phone or is a PC connection a must? If so, I'll have to do it at a friend's house.
