can someone update the first page with the differences between this and the original 2.2 release? i've got the original running well on my phone and i'm trying to figure out if its worth the effort to reinstall and resetup today.

If it's running well and you're happy with it then dont bother flashing the new one. There will be new builds of Froyo every few days until it's officially released, not to mention the custom ROM's that the wonderful dev's are working on.

This is not a final release... if you like to tinker then flash the new releases.. if you're happy with your FroYo setup then keep it how it is IMO.

This build does seem snappier. Before when I'd exit out of Dolphin Browser, my homescreen would come up and it'd be blank for a few secs. I like Chrometophone, but don't really see a real world application for it.

Maybe I'm just to dense. :)

This build at 600 Mhz seems snappier than the first build at 1 GHz... at least in my experience.

Just installed the latest Froyo. I know it's the latest because my flashlight app is working again.:) Still don't know about Google Voice. Waiting for a response.

Looks like you've fully embraced the darkside :P

Well, I'm still not rooted. For some reason I do seem to have some rooting capabilities, like I have a back up, My Backup Pro. It told me that my phone was root capable and asked if I wanted to back up using that method. I said sure, why not. lol.

I have no Superuser Ninja. And FWIW I never had anything against rooting. Many seem to have that impression but it's not true, I had rooted my self previously.

Little help here guys, I cannot run fix permissions in rom manager, I get error occured while trying to run privelaged commands. Also why is there no vibrate only mode?? Wtf? I hit volume down and it goes from sound to silent completely skipping vibrate. Help!

That's ok Hook, I didnt intend to root, but got a later version of froyo that was rooted ....

At the very least I can finally swap out the news and weather for the transparent one ... :)

Oh, geeze. I am rooted now! I've got Super User Permissions.

I should have read the fine print closer. Oh well. :)

Can I do this from my phone? i have the free rom manager, do I need the paid to do it? And can give a quick and easy step by step if I can do it from the phone? I am on the first build of the froyo rom with root. Thank you and sorry if it was already posted, just want to do it right the first time.

And how do I change to a different kernal? Do I delete the first one i installed?

Google Voice appears to be fixed, if it hasn't been reported already. Sent a text out to my wife and received a response. Got a notification.dancedroid

you flash it like you flash a rom.

if you are using rom manager then just put the zip on your sd card and use "install from sd card", navigate to where you put the zip and you are good to go. if you are using sprecovery rename to update.zip and place on the root of the sd card, reboot into recovery, allow update.zip, then flash update.zip.

no need to delete the original one (i don't think you can delete it) b/c when you flash it will write over the existing kernel.

Yes, there might be some small changes, so far biggest ones is chrome to phone and MotoTorch works now. lol

But this build just.....feel.....faster. Thats why I want to test out the latest that comes out to see if anything changes.

Follow the link below, download kernel of your choice and I think there are instructions there too.

Froyo Overclocked Kernels includes *wifi* fix

Flash SPRecovery n0m0n...I've been telling people for some time that CW boinks installs. It's not a good way to flash Froyo.

Some people have luck with it but if you don't want to risk a bad install DO NOT use it.

SPRecovery is the best way at this time to flash 2.2.

I thought you were supposed to stop misinformation not propagate it. Many people here are using ClockWork and not having issues while only a few are.
