More Froyo

Well, I'm still not rooted. For some reason I do seem to have some rooting capabilities, like I have a back up, My Backup Pro. It told me that my phone was root capable and asked if I wanted to back up using that method. I said sure, why not. lol.

I have no Superuser Ninja. And FWIW I never had anything against rooting. Many seem to have that impression but it's not true, I had rooted my self previously.
hook all you have to do is run the update.zip and you will have su permissions...

back-up first though.

Where do I put this file on a unrooted droid so I can open it and boot in froyo??? I put it in the main of my sdcard but it doesn't show up when I boot in to recovery.

Thanks!!!

Flash SPRecovery n0m0n...I've been telling people for some time that CW boinks installs. It's not a good way to flash Froyo.

Some people have luck with it but if you don't want to risk a bad install DO NOT use it.

SPRecovery is the best way at this time to flash 2.2.

I thought you were supposed to stop misinformation not propagate it. Many people here are using ClockWork and not having issues while only a few are.

I have flashed both releases of froyo as well as all of the updates, fixes, and themes all via CW with no problems as of yet (knock on wood)

with this new build of froyo, is it fine to use the previously posted oc kernels? i noticed this one is faster at stock, so it will be even faster oc'd? :D

not true blazingwolf...I don't know why you are making an argument about this I'm only trying to help people.

I've assisted many people already that are having problems with CW.

Again, we are only trying to cut down on issues with installs and SPRecovery is the tried and true way with 2.2 at this time......

Not sure if I have something odd going on since I haven't seen anyone else mention this. But, in both the stock music player and 3 (cubed, whatever it is called) I see dupes of all of my music. I've search the SD card and cannot find the dupes anywhere. I also see it in the notifications section when I select the audio to play (I have a sdcard/media/ringtones folder on the sdcard with a couple songs - those are duped too).

Anyone else run into this?

Anyone that has installed this, did u have to reactivate ur phone? Do u lose prl filrs, web settings, text settings? I have my droid flashed to a different carrier other than verizon...its flashed to pocket communications. Will messing with the kernel cause me to lose my flash? u can email me to [email protected] leave me a message please..this thread is gonna get big and hard for me to find out if anyone replied..thanks much appreciated!

Just installed the latest Froyo. I know it's the latest because my flashlight app is working again.:) Still don't know about Google Voice. Waiting for a response.

Looks like you've fully embraced the darkside :P

Hook was one of the original sholesmod testers when camel first released it. Now ever since then you have shied away from rooting. But its cool, to each his own. But the o/c kernel is worth it. Makes me glad I did not turn my droid in for the incredible.
Saying hook give it a try, put this 1000 on your phone and play with it for an hour, then if you still feel the need to go back. You still feel its not that big of a diff I or the rest of the forum will never hound you about rooting again.

Froyo Overclocked Kernels includes *wifi* fix

all in all whether you do or not, whether froyo is rooted o/c or not it is still a smooth running beta.

Upon further review CK when I ran the update it did install Super Permissions this time. I'm just wondering, does anybody know can I install a higher voltage kernel over what I have already installed?

Have we found a fix for the cpu temps? All I am reading is battery temps. I did a search and did not find any fixes posted

No one is saying that CW does not work. Those that have done it used sprecovery. So use RM to flash sprecovery, install then go back. Or use Clockwork to install it. Its up to you, but the people helping installed through sp so we will not be able to tell you why something is not working if you did it through cw because we did not use cw.

For those bent on using CW I know someone who uses cw and I will get ahold of him to see if we can set up a separate thread for installing through the cw method.
