More Froyo

So I hate to be that guy, but I haven't really seen a good answer for this question:

Two days ago I updated to the first Froyo release. I was able to keep basically all my apps, but it took me forever to redo all my settings and reconfigure the apps, just like what happened with the 2.0 to 2.1 update.

Will I be able to load up this new build on the first post while being able to keep all my settings and whatnot?

Yes, a wipe isn't necessary and everything should be the same when you get done.

Hook if you just loaded Froyo give it some time to load all your apps from the market, it might seem choppy at first but it's usually just loading all your info.

Download SetCPU so you can alter the speed of the kernal you have installed.

Welcome back to the Rooted side!

I've always had my droid set to "back up settings" so even when I have to do a wipe, it atleast brings my wifi/notification settings back....

I think you should take the plunge, its not much work... Just resync, and reinstall apps.

Chrome to phone alone is worth it.

No one is saying that CW does not work. Those that have done it used sprecovery. So use RM to flash sprecovery, install then go back. Or use Clockwork to install it. Its up to you, but the people helping installed through sp so we will not be able to tell you why something is not working if you did it through cw because we did not use cw.

For those bent on using CW I know someone who uses cw and I will get ahold of him to see if we can set up a separate thread for installing through the cw method.

Sigh. OK, I get the picture. You guys dislike ClockWork for whatever reason. I will no longer comment about what you guys are saying.

I am talking to koush and getting it set up for a better guide for the cw method. And its not that no one like or dislike cw. Any one who used cw knows it has a lot of good features, especially the fact you do not have to keep naming everything update.zip

here is the thread for cw

I don't get it guys, why would my putting a higher voltage kernel slow my Droid down? Can anybody explain? First person to answer gets a get out of jail free card. :) j/k

Didnt see this posted anywhere but my about screen still says FRFxx and 33333 test-keys for the build number, not FRF57 and 38829. I used the CM link, anyone else noticing this?

From what I understand 33333 is the build that was released here last night... droid-life has a FRF57 38829 build out this morning. I'm not sure what the differences are, or if one is newer than the other. Been trying to figure that out myself...
I thought last nights was a leak, and not a port. I know the port is a real froyo build for Motorola! I am booting it up.

Last time to bother hopefully.

I dl'd the "more Froyo" file. I go to

"Extract the zip contents to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup. "

But I don't have that on my sdcard. I only have "clockworkmod/download"

Upon further review CK when I ran the update it did install Super Permissions this time. I'm just wondering, does anybody know can I install a higher voltage kernel over what I have already installed?

ladies and gentlemen Hook is now Officially rooted : )

Yes hook flash kernels all day long....

you may not boot or have other issues but thats what back ups are for.

Well, the 1000 Kernel I just installed is making my phone run odd. Scrolling isn't smooth. This sucks, I'm going to install a lower voltage kernal.

Hook if you not gonna o/c then why put the kernel on it. Its like having a lambo in your drive way that you refuse to drive. Install setcpu, move that meter to 1000 an mash the gas.
Only thing to fear is...........

Then just make the folder.

You must not have any clockwork backups.

I'm going to have to overclock to get it to work smooth. I'll reinstall SetCPU.

Im lost hook, if you installed the p3 1000 kernel you should be good to go. 1000 is not too fast and it runs cool. You can always toggle back down to 800 if you feel like its too fast for you.
