****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

Ok, I lied, a little, but not really, kind of, almost

In my last post I said everything was going well with FroYo after upgrading last week with the 45mb file and Flash Beta 3 which I really like.

I should have said that almost everything is going well.

My problem isn't with the ring, vibrate, silent problem several are having, but I have a few call that I have setup to go directly to voice mail. Using 2.1 all that I had going to voice mail went, not not all of them. Sometimes it vibrates and I can either wait for it to go or swipe ignore.

Anybody else seeing this problem?

Not going to go back to 2.1, just wondering if others have seen it too.

Manual 2.2 update

I am new to this forum and this is my first post but i have spent the last week going over every thing i could find about getting the 2.2 update and finally said f it and did the manual install of the full 75 mb 2.2 update. It worked fine for me, flash 10.1 works with dolphin hd browser and is running choppy but works. my system info is as follows:
Android Version 2.2
Baseband Version C_01.43.01P
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9-g103d848android-build@apa26#1
Build Number FRG01B
Hope this helps anyone who was thinking about manually updating

Has anyone from the south gotten update yet? Is it regional? It seems all I have seen are from northern u.s.

lol, 2 days ago people were saying that only the South was getting it. It's very RANDOM, not regional. If you haven't got it, you will just have to wait or do the manual update.

Well from what I'm reading it seems the manual method is quite a task with many risks. I'm a week new to my Droid from bb. I don't wanna screw it up. It that a big risk?

The manual method is actually very simple with low, if any, risk.

Ok, Ok, so I made a mistake.

That's right. After saying everything was fine, which is still is mostly, I said let me check the silent thing with the volume control and sure enough it only goes to vibrate. I can only say, you told me so. But to my defence I use the SilentMode OnOff widget so I really don't use the volume control all that much.

Now on to the problem of sending callers directly to voice mail, I turned it off on this one caller and then back on and now when they call, right to voice mail. Sweet. Darn boss, why does he need to call me anyways?

Look like they will have to come out with a patch to fix some of these little problems in the near future.

Cheers Mates.

So whats the general consensus between the non-rooted FRG01B that I manually installed last week and the new one that is being updated by Verizon? Should I roll back, or keep what I have now?

Other than slow lag on swiping the screens I don't have any problems. My battery life is fine, my programs and browser seem to be running faster, I love my live wallpaper and I have the flash 10.1 manual update...

Is there any reason for me to get the one Verizon is offering?

I did a manual update with the FRG01B and it seems like my phone is slower than on 2.1. It seems to have smoothed out some, but my 3G is really slow now.

EDIT:

I did a factory reset, so we will see how this goes from here on out. If it doesn't pan out, maybe i will try installing the whole 79mb virgin patch. My phone isn't unusable, but right now, 2.1 was much better. My 3G is crawling at times, and my market and other apps that require the connection are timing out or locking up at times. This is even after doing a factory reset and starting fresh with no downloaded apps.

The wait for this OTA is driving me crazy. Once I heard about the update all option for apps I stopped updating them. They are piling up now! Give me my update Verizon!!!

I'm curious... why does everyone assume that their location has to do with anything related to the OTA update?

I recall this phenomenon occurring when the 2.01 to 2.1 update happened also. I have never seen anything anywhere indicating that your location is a factor in receiving the update.

Why do people think mentioning their location has anything to do with the update?! Did I miss something? Has there been information released about how the update will be rolled out in regards to location? Someone please enlighten me.

Still puzzled in Illinois.

Nope, location had absolutely zero to do with when you will receive your update. It is completely and purely random.
