****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

The problem is his phone won't go into recovery. But by all means it won't hurt to try it again.
Tried again. The update did not even push to phone. And it says system is up to date. On ese81 build

Very strange. Let me ask you something? Have you ever had root access on your phone? I will help the best i can even if you are a "sooner" fan:icon_eek: and i am a "HUSKER" fan. :)

HEHE I saw that too. Nope never rooted.

Hey I just got my update this morning. I was nervous at first to let Helix Launcher run since I had heard it might lock up...but so far so good. I remember there was a list of what the upgrade offers but I can't remember where I saw it. Could someone point me to a list of what was updated in 2.2? I want to play with some of the new goodies!!

Thanks

Before i did anything i would do a factory reset and pull the battery then a full boot. Then try the system update again.

Burlington VT

Burlington VT this morning... my phone got the update around 6:45am, my wife's didn't... both were purchased the same day.

Android Version 2.2 (duh)
Kernel version 2.6.32.9-g103d848 android-build@apa26#1
Baseband version C_01.43.01P
Build number FTG01B

OS Monitor reports scaling range 250000 - 600000, Frequency range 125000 - 800000

I'm finding the phone to be somewhat more responsive and snappier than it was under 2.1. I've also lost the silent mode for the ringer volume. I don't recall the display blanking out while in the cradle under 2.1, but it does now which I find a bit irritating.

Got it this morning, San Diego California, My daughter who bought hers two months before me is still waiting.

That's because there is no pattern to the update delivery. I just spoke to my wife who happens to be in Virginia and she still hasn't got it.

How true...still not here in VT.

Hi. Got my OTA update late last night here in Rhode Island.

No issues w/install or re-boot. I am glad I read this FAQ as my Swype Beta was not working.

Also, the new screens for the Droid in the Moto multimedia dock are very nice. The "night" setting is much darker, which is a welcome change.

Now, if they would only put Adobe Flash 10.1 in the Android Market...

VT here as well and no notification yet. However, am rooted with a Froyo Rom so I may not get the notification.

Your rom does not stop the notification. You will get it, just a matter of when

Got it!

After weeks of waiting I finally got the 2.2 update but not on my own. I called Verizon and *****ed at them because I hadn't gotten it by the 13th (which they had said all the updates would be completed by). They of course said they didn't have any control over it but literally 3 minutes after I hung up from them I had the notification. Coincidence?!?

I do see that the phone seems to be a little faster but relaly thats all I notice right now but plan on playing with it some more throughout the day. I also found that I could not silence the vibrate but I ended up going into the settings, sound, vibrate option. There you can change when you want your phone to vibrate. I also do find that my FB updates and emails are being pushed faster!

Aaaaah...ok. Wasn't sure. No biggie. I will allow the update when notified and let SpRecovery do its thing to block so I don't get constant notification.

Btw, I picked up my Droid end of March and have never experienced any kind of official Verizon OTA because in early April (2 weeks after Droid purchase) I manually updated to 2.1.

New experience for me. :) Of course I can manually update again but it will break root. I could then try the Easy Root app. Am always game to tinker.

What fun!

I've got a question. I haven't received the update yet (Phoenix, AZ), but my situation is perhaps a little bit unique, and I'm wondering if that will affect whether I will even get the update pushed to my Droid at all.

I bought my Droid two days after release, last November 8, 2009. Then since I wasn't eligible for an upgrade, I bought a Droid X at full retail, receiving it via FedEx and activating it on July 20. There were several issues with my new DX, so I chose to return it within the 30 day period, and re-activated my Droid on the same account, same phone number, on August 11.

So my question is, if anyone has any idea how this all works internally at Verizon, do you think I will actually receive the 2.2 update? Or is it possible that after after I deactivated my Droid and activated the DX, then re-activated my original Droid, that their records for update haven't caught up and perhaps the update won't even get pushed to me?

Anyone have any clues here on the details of how Verizon's system picks up on what accounts to push the update to? ... Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't have affected you. I'll stress shouldn't because if Verizon Wireless is as effed up as Verizon Landline service, who knows.

My suggestion to you is to either do a manual update and be done with it or go into a VZW store that has the capability of doing a software install/upgrade and ask them to update your phone. If they give you any crap say thank you and report the store for poor service. :) Your only other option is to wait till the rollout is over and then do the exact same thing, so... Why wait? :D

With 2.2, does bluetooth voice dial/commands now work??

Yes. You'll need the upgrade Voice Search for anything other than dialing commands to work, and I've seen comments on the app that there's no Bluetooth support for anything other than dialing.

I have to shout sometimes and even at that I'll say a contact's name and I'll get "dial 662-543-0873" or something bizzare like that. Then again, my headset is rated at the 2.0 spec and came directly from China at a cost of $8 including shipping. YMMV.

I finally got the update, but my phone has been stuck at a yellow exclamation point screen for thirty minutes. What should I do?

What have you done so far other than tell the phone to reboot? It seems some phones install automatically and some phones you have to get into recovery to get the install to work.

There are questions surrounding Easy Root, both in security and stability (some roots don't seem to go so well), as well as controversy surrounding the origin of the app itself. Timing and function seem to indicate it's a kanged version of the DroidMod team's DMUpdater. Rather than going the route you suggest, why not flash in a rooted stock ROM like Pete's or JRummy's? You won't get the fun of rooting it yourself, but you also won't have to buy it dinner and take it on a moonlight carriage ride first, or worry about that sobbing call the next morning asking if you still respect it. ;)
