****Official FroYo Rollout Thread-Version2!****

Regulator? I have tried 11,yes 11times. Have the astro file it names it self "update"
Keep. Receiving error messages. There are 10 different files out there I tried 4 different ones . Typing is off because of anger. There is a step being left out. We should number them....Won't stop trying in SF.....:icon_cool:

Well, I got tired of waiting on the OTA so I did the manual update and it works great! dancedroid

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and know-how to do this!

So what part of the instructions below are you having problems with? Also you only need to download the file I have listed below that is all. Also what is your current firmware?

YOU DONT NEED TO DO ANYTHING ELSE BESIDES THE DIRECTIONS BELOW! FOLLOW THEM TO A T AND YOULL BE FINE! IF LESS THEN 40% BATTERY REMAINING PLUG PHONE TO CHARGER

Ok first off download astro file manager from the market then in the preferences check the enable browser download. Now go to the link below. Thats the only file you need. As soon as its downloaded go back to astro and rename the file as update NOTHING ELSE! then turn your phone off and turn back on holding both ther power and x button. When the little exclamation point comes up release the buttons then push up on the volume control and push the camera button at the same time. It will give you options use the d-pad to navigate to apply update.zip and hit x. It will install then ask you if you want to reboot then hit x and your done! Froyo galore!

As much as I hate to send people off-site, especially since I've been asked to do a how-to update to the install directions, this is as bone-simple a set of directions as it can possibly be said.

If this doesn't work, try Skyping or something to get ahold of someone who can talk you through it step-by-step. Good luck!

I just called a verizon rep because my dad's phone hasn't recieved the update. she says it's still on hold.
obviously it isn't, but my dad won't let me do a manual install. last time it broke the phone (not my fault, something was wrong with the phone to begin with according to a verizon store guy)

Do the install anyway. ;) If something glitches just say the install started and borked. Since you're not lying (just leaving out you forced it to start), no harm no foul. :icon_ peace:

Lol you should just take it and do it then say it got the OTA lol or show him while its installing in recovery mode and tell him it got the OTA lol

I got the X in July. My Droid isnt activated anymore. I do use Wifi....and got the OTA update today. I'm already running it from being rooted tho. Nice to see even if its not activated u still get the update sent.

LMAO. My replacement refurb Droid that came yesterday just got the 2.2 update and got it via wifi. It isn't even activated yet. My original Droid that I got back in December still nothing.

Same here...I just received my new replacement Droid and within 5 minutes of turning it on, it asked me to install the update. I'm located on Long Island, NY

Quick question. Is it still worth rooting the Droid on the 2.2 update and mess with the overclocking and custom ROM's? Not that I will EVER try to overclock again after frying my last phone but just curious if it's still worth it.

I manually updated today, it was easy and I am extremely happy I did.
