Often imitated, never duplicated! Focused 1.8.6

if i install this and i later need to sbf will it be safe? i remember reading that the droid 2 with 2.2.1 you cannot sbf with the 2.2 sbf file.

is same true here?

What you read about, was the 2.3.20 leak which was 2.2.1. It was a full update. It included patches to the Bootloader.
Focused only contains framework (etc.) from 2.2.1, it will NOT change the bootloader, and you will not have problems .sbf'ing after you install Focused.

I guess this would be as good a place to ask as any, but has there been any progress on contact ringtone assignment?

That's a great question. Let me check...

Just set one from my work phone and called myself... it worked. Whether it sticks after reboot... stay tuned.

Edit: Reverted to default ringtone upon reboot.

More info here:
Unofficial – Known Issues List – Focused 1.8.6 — sephtin.com

##Custom Ringtones assigned to contact fail to play (default ringtone rings instead)-
–If the caller is calling from the primary number you’ve assigned to them, the proper ring tone will play. If they call from another number you have stored for them. (work, office, home, etc.) the default ringtone will ring.
Workaround: Using RingDroid to set your ringtone to a contact is said to resolve this (??).
Edit: More info… The AOSP Phone.apk includes the ability to set ringtones. Those ringtones seem to stick until reboot. So, either there is a permissions issue, or there’s an incompatibility with the framework causing this…

Question: For those of you seemingly having battery issues, are you running Screebl by chance?

I've found that most task managers kill the battery (fastest task killer doesnt effect it much ... if your into task managers). I also re-tweeked the sysctl.conf to

vm.dirty_ratio = 80
vm.dirty_backround_ratio = 50

seems to squeeze 24+ hours out of the extended life battery with 1.25Ghz undervolted cpu with moderate-light use.
Yesterday I was on it pretty much 100% of the time I was awake and got an easy 16 hours of use. WOW!!!

I also noticed there were a bunch of pics on my phone that werent there prior to this? Files were like S2, S3, S4....any ideas?

This.

In Gallery, it should give you a folder name, or (??) of where they're located.
Any info you can give would be great. I use a Market app normally for Gallery... but even with the Focused Gallery, I wasn't having any issues (well, other than when I tried to replace it with something else.. meh).

Also, might help to narrow down if they're on SDCard, or in /System... could you unmount your SDCard, and see if they still show in Gallery?

Short answer: I can't recreate it. Can you find the files?

In gallery it says location unknown. I tried searching through folders for these pics and couldnt find them. They are called S1-S7. I have no clue where these came from and i cant find these anywhere. All I know is they werent there last night.....

I've noticed a problem with the messaging app opening up apps such as gameboid and apktor and then when I hit back it will go to the browser and the only way to fix it is as reboot

Screebl isn't a task manager. It's designed to help turn the screen off when the phone is not in use while not turning it off when it actually is being used. As for your adjustements to sysctl.conf, I'm assuming that drod already adjusted these in his ROM so not sure if this is necessary.

And if you unmount the sdcard, and try to open gallery, still there?
(to unmount, go to Menu> Settings> SD card and phone storage, then "Unmount SD card").

I just unmounted my SD card and those pics disappeared from the gallery...hmmmm

Ahh, ok. So.. that means that they're probably on your SDCard...
NO IDEA why Gallery is finding them now... :S But I don't believe they were put there by the ROM.

Anyone else getting these? To those that have them, did any of you NOT restore stuff through Titanium?

Did you install the Pulse RSS Reader? IIRC, Pulse saves images in the SX.jpg format, and isn't smart enough to drop a .nomedia file in there. Check your SDCard for a Pulse folder, and see if it's full of SX files.

EDIT: Pulse creates folders named S1, S2, etc and fills them with images from your news feeds. Different detail, same basic concept. I'd put dollars to cents you installed Pulse (which just became free, like, yesterday, so I bet most people installed it).

This is a really sloppy, unprofessional oversight on the Pulse developers part.
