Often imitated, never duplicated! Focused 1.8.6

Awesome rom Sephtin! Very stBle. One question...on 2.2 stock, rooted, deodexed, quadrant ran benchmark scores around 2100. Now with a badass rom it runs around 1400. Your rom is fast no lag. Why such lower scores? Although it doesnt matter . The X runs ALOT better on this rom. Ill be sticking with this rom. Keep up the great work!

Quadrant scores are easily manipulated and as such mean very little. A 2100 sounds like a 1.45 GHz overclock or stagefright enabled.

Another question as I bounce back to Focused to compare them again (poor phone). In both Apex nextheme and blurry I can get a landscape dialer and when I call the call buttons and picture of the person is in landscape also. I know I can get dialers that do landscape but how can I get the actual call to do it in focused?

Thanks

i think that was one of the bugs in this rom... there isnt a fix for it besides using an app dialer

Drod - i installed black juice over this and it recentered my lockscreen clock. i actually prefer it to the left like you're new version puts it. since you're familiar with changing the position now, could you tell me where to look within framework to change the position? I can handle it from there, thanks.

I have searched and looked in FAQ.... I was wondering if OC is enabled on install? I posted in FAQ so this thread could be cleared but just wondering so I could go ahead and install :P

to test this, just install quadrant (free from market). do a few quadrant tests and take the avg of your results. now use the built in script to set your clock speeds to default 1.0ghz. do the quadrant tests again. if you're getting the same result, then it was already at 1.0ghz. if you're getting lower speeds (more than just a few points), then you were OC'd at install.

So there is no way to get it to work in Focused 186? I find that a little frustrating as I use my phone in car dock much of the time and don't want to be looking at a sideways picture or press sideways buttons.

I ended up just turning my dock into portrait mode :)

I use Waze for navigation, and it does 'heading up' -- so you make better use of your display anyway.

For those with the battery issues: Yesterday I got about 9 hours of battery life. Last night I uninstalled Screebl, disabled SetCPU profiles, and made a custom script to adjust the dirty ratios... Today I'm at 12 hours and still showing 60% battery.

That sounds like my experience. I've had it off the charger since 7 and it now 10:10 with 90%. Yesterday 90 lasted me past lunch. The secret it to let froyo do it all for you. Don't run any killers or autorun apps. Edit scripts like install-recovery.sh if you want autorun settings (ie your own Of values)

From:
Unofficial – Known Issues List – Focused 1.8.6 — sephtin.com

##AOSP Phone.apk (dialer)
–Dialer won’t rotate to Landscape mode when phone is turned.
–Speed Dial can’t be configured.
This is a limitation of the AOSP Phone.apk. Until that package receives updates that resolve these issues, (or a suitable replacement is found), these issues will remain in Focused.
Edit: I’ve read that alternative front-end dialers (meaning, they act as dialer, until ready to place a call, and then hand the info off to the dialer…) such as Dialer One, and aContacts from Market shold have speed dial.. possible work around for those that prefer speed dial rather than utilizing favorites… ? (If you try these, please let us know how it goes!!!).

Not exactly a "bug"... it's just how the phone.apk from AOSP (vanilla android) is, at least, that's what I'm told.

Here's the project:
android.git.kernel.org Git - platform/packages/apps/Phone.git/summary

Feel free to make a suggestion, or better yet, code a patch for everyone! :)

If you can find a better one that actually works on the Focused framework with vanilla apps, please let us know!

Hmm, some confusion here that I'll try to clear up.

Not my ROM. drod2169 put endless hours of blood sweat and tears into both rubiX blurry, and Focused ROMs, I'd like credit to go where it is due.

Regarding quad scores.. they're worthless. I can change 4 lines in build.prop, and break 2200 with my phone.. and that's with no overclock and no optomization. NOTHING ELSE will be faster, just better quadrant scores.

Benchmarking is such a terrible way to see how fast a device is.. it's not at all real world, unless you're rendering video or computing Pi constantly on your phone for some reason? :P

Focused IS faster...

BTW how are you getting such low scores? :S 1400, really?

No. Stock clock and voltages on base ROM. Up to you to OC or UV as you please. This eliminates the risk of stability issues for those that have phones that don't play well with UV/OC.
